How Was Your Halloween?

This is kind of strange to Me.

I'm a boomer and the people who were adults back in the day when I was trick or treating were part of the greatest generation or even the silent generation.

A hard bitten lot if ever there was...

We used to get minibar bottles of booze from them!

LOL

Just kidding.

We didn't need parents to follow us around and we often traveled in groups of close knit friends.

Pedos and other assorted riff raf was never a problem because we weren't fucking idiots.

I grew up in the Southeast SF Bay Area.
Fremont/Milpitas?

I sometimes have a Rum and Eggnog,

My favorite Christmas drink was Gin & Tonic.....because it reminds me of Christmas Trees..

I don't drink very much anymore. I have the same case of Michelob Ultra I bought last Spring.

I bought a bunch of booze when I retired from Civil Service......and most of it is still sitting in my liquor cabinet.

My favorite drink when I was in the military was Rum & Dr Pepper. but I haven't had one since Christmas last year.

I have a bottle of Single Malt 14 yr old Glenfeddich Scotch that's 16 yrs old now.

I just like the taste of water that comes out of my Samsung Refridge.
Hombre and I do not drink any form of alcohol anymore for various reasons, but when we did, I loved rum and coke (which was a lot cheaper at the bowling alley bar than were the pina coladas, daquiris and white Russians that I also loved.) But rum gives me a frightful headache for some reason whether served with coca cola or used to spike the Christmas egg nog.

Which reminds me of a neighbor long ago who drank way too much and on Halloween passed out these Jello thingees that were liberally laced with bourbon. I think he spent quite some time in jail.

LOL, I didn't think about it until I woke up this am, but I had Zombies last night. Appropos.

The dark liquor is less refined and tends to give you a headache.

I'm glad it's over. I get tired of seeing all the ghoulish demonic dark spooky stuff everywhere. :dunno:

I'm not a party pooper though, really! I love having fun and celebrating, I just don't want to participate in celebrating darkness, death and that sort of thing. When I was a kid, I loved Halloween, btw. But it was just the dressing up and candy that I loved, like most kids.

I don't know what it is, but some booze gives me a headache and some doesn't. Seems the cheaper, the worse the headache. Popov vodka is an instant headache as is cheap rum. I get along alright with Bacardi though. Since Bacardi quit making 151, I am using Golding's Black Seal, I never knew what I was missing. Their 151 has a wonderful flavor.

Sorry, but I'll watch Hocus Pocus periodically thru the year, even if it harelips every liberal in Hollywood.

One of the girls who graduated in my same class of 74' is still living in Montana and owns horses. We talk on fakebook every once in a great while.

And she loves Hocus Pocus and Harry Potter. Only problem is she's a Gryffindore and I'm a Slytherin.

Sweet Rose gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Ah well, to each their own. :)

I'm not much for wine. Might come from working over thirty years in a winery.
I remember when I was living in Heilbronn FRG and we'd go walking up among the vineyards above the town, and they'd have these Fall pressings laying next to the vines ready to turn back into the dirt. They were fermented and it would give you a buzz just smelling it.

Bacardi quit making 151?

I still have a bottle of that stuff here at home.

Any whiskey from Canada makes me sick. Any whiskey from TN makes me love my country. Any whiskey from Ireland makes me a genius.

I'm with you there. Halloween is supposed to be fun and not all that ghoulish or horror themed. Well, maybe just a teeny bit but only a teeny bit.
