The way you drop gun crime? You lock up the criminals who commit gun crime...for really long periods of time....

this has the added advantage of not bothering normal gun owners because they don't use their guns for crime or violence...

If they really wanted to bring crime down to civilized levels, they wouldn’t even need to reinvent the wheel to do so.

Florida had a violent crime crisis long ago. Then they implemented a 10-20-Life law. Bad guys toting guns in the commission of violent crimes got a 10-year sentencing enhancement on top of the underlying crime. There were no options for plea bargains, probation or early release. This was hard time.

Thugs discharging their guns picked up twenty extra years, effectively taking them out of circulation for a generation. And if their shots wounded or killed anyone, they got a 25-years to Life enhancement, keeping them locked up for even longer.

With a few short years under 10-20-Life, Florida’s firearm violent crime numbers fell to historic lows.

But....why wouldn't democrats want to lower the gun crime and murder rates?

Could it be that they believe that high gun crime and gun murder rates give them the best chance they have to ban and confiscate guns?

Errrr...yup...........

Yeah, the tough on crime approach has really worked over the U.S over the last 40 years.

Crime is a social problem. It will never be solved. You have Capital Punishment in many states, did murder disappear?

Tough on crime would work if they were actually tough on crime.
A guy uses a gun? For ten years he's in prison......off the streets. If they actually did the 10 years, I'm pretty sure
they aren't going to do it again.
But, that's not what happens...they plead it down to where it's something like 6 months and 2 years probation, if that.

We haven't been tough on crime the last 40 years. Democrats cut them loose then try to use the criminal culture they've created as a reason to disarm us.

I found that if someone does a gun crime, lets say with a pistol, what ever hand that was holding the pistol is removed. It if is a rifle then both hands are removed. If someone then uses the only hand they have left to do a gun crime, remove that hand and no worries about gun crimes anymore.

I should run for President....

We lock up 2 million people, we have another 7 million on probation or parole, and we have 70 million Americans with a police record.

We don't have enough prison space to lock people up for merely committing a crime with a gun.

The "historic lows" are indeed historic, they are statistics from 10 years ago. More recent numbers are not so good:

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) inherited low violent crime rates when he took office in 2019, but his term as Florida governor has been marked by a massive surge in gun-related violence. Indeed, from 2019 to 2020, violent crime incidents involving guns rose 20 percent, the number of firearm-related homicides surged 21 percent, and the proportion of manslaughter cases involving a firearm increased by 107 percent. As of 2020, guns were the most common weapon used in aggravated assaults in Florida—the first time this has happened since collection of data began in 1995.
Despite the increase in gun crime, Florida Sens. Rick Scott (R) and Marco Rubio (R) both voted against federal legislation to keep guns out of the hands of convicted domestic abusers and other dangerous people. And at the state level, Gov. DeSantis has loosened regulations on firearms and blocked commonsense safety measures—including by rebuking attempts by Democrats in the state to hold a special legislative session to address gun violence following the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

Yeah, pro-crime lefty lawyers and judges suck.

Raise taxes on the Middle Class to fund all the new jails and don't forget salaries for the guards ... go for it ...

Republicans control the House ... they can send the appropriations bill to the Senate tomorrow ...
Defund and disperse all the agencies, fire all the goons and use the properties. Nothing could be easier.

If their crime involved murder or attempted murder, and is proven to some extraordinary degree, and if there are no significant mitigating factors, then put them to death.

I would want to be absolutely sure, of course. Probably some higher standard of proof than what it would take to lock them up in prison for a very long time. But once that standard is met, put a bullet in the back of his head, and dump the body in a landfill, and be done with it.

Mormon BOb has a murder boner.

GIven we've released 195 people from Death Row after it was found someone else did it, I'd say "absolutely sure" isn't good enough. Juries were absolutely sure they did it.

Has anyone who was a victim of CP committed any more murders?
Nope.

Has anyone who indicted the wrong person, with held evidence from the courts or framed a person for murder ever gone to prison for it let alone themselves faced the same fate?

Or just use the money we waste on foreign aid and Climate Change.

We need to hire goons ... have you never been to prison or something? ... and we'll have to pay top dollar to get anyone to work for us ...

If you want less government, then there will be less people going to jail ... maybe you want summary executions based on political ideology ... that would be easier and cheaper ... just not legal ...

Republicans control the House ... will we get yet another pork-barrel CR from them? ... MAGA Mike Johnson is Speaker now ... what's the problem? ...

Maybe cut out the IRS ... we can trust folks to pay their taxes ... not a problem ...

Good grief I'm so sick of ppl who claim there is no point in fixing things, that it can't be done so we just have to put up with the status quo.
