I am sorry those stats don't fit your preconceived narrative. But intuitively, it makes sense. Again, those numbers don't reflect the total number of children living in poverty, they reflect the likelihood, that based on the domestic situation, that a child lives in poverty.
I mean come on, that number for unmarried couples is high for a damn reason. Project 2025 has actually provided concrete and specific proposals to address the problem. I mean you are pregnant, you can go on Medicaid, hell, you might even get SNAP benefits, certainly WIC. You marry the father, that yes, you live with. That shit is likely to go away. Who the **** does that?
I mean I don't get it. In the corporate world, run a business, you fail to take advantage of every government benefit that can improve your bottom line, well as a leader, you are probably not going to be around too long. But an individual, that does the same thing, oh, they are a deadbeat. **** that shit, it is ignorant.
The biggest problem, the marginal tax rate on every additional dollar of income. A single Mom, two kids, making around thirty grand year. She gets Medicaid to cover her children, now that is just for the pregnancy and the first year mind you. She gets WIC, perhaps she gets SNAP benefits. And the big one, the EITC, could be as much as $500 a month. She marries her partner, who also makes thirty grand, that shit goes away. I mean at the moment, not being married, she gets those benefits. She gets married, she loses 85% of his income, more in some cases. Who ******* does that?
