The blue/purple states will be in very bad straits prior to 2020:
Examination of voting records keep overtopping the previous estimates of illegal votes in blue/purple states.
Suicidal fiscal moves in the same Blue/Purple states are increasingly more common.
Just sending all of the D crooks to jail for looting their own states will come across as a partisan witch-hunt and garner sympathy for them among independents. So, how is the best way to sugarcoat the coming scandals to make the Ds and the deep state look more idiotic and incompetent than like the corrupt criminals they also are?
