This is the famous designer Vera Wang

Can't tell from the fuzzy image, but Vera Wang is from my father's generation being born in the 1940s.

She looks extremely good for age.

After Black people, Asians age pretty well too, but she's aged incredibly well!

My point, of course, has nothing to do with race. Don’t you think ageism is the most destructive—and most widely accepted—form of discrimination in our Western civilization? As a Black man, you know how discrimination is counterproductive and damaging not only to its victims, but to an entire nation as a whole.

Good point and I agree.

In the 60s we were told not to trust anyone over 30. I`m over 70 and I don`t trust me.

I don't.

"Discrimination" is not of itself any great sin, or even mistake. We discriminate every day, many times a day, as we should.

Older people are generally less able, less attractive, less physically fit and less cognatively adept than younger people. There are always exceptions, but in nearly every case, it is safe to assume that a person in their seventies is not a good choice for president, for example.

We allow out-of-shape eighteen to thirty year olds to join the Army. They nearly always adapt and manage the tasks required. Therefore, should we do the same for out-of-shape fifty to seveny year olds? Not unless our aim is to humiliate the middle aged, and have a large failure rate for basic training.
