It amazes me how so many people on this site are liberals when Obama has done so much damage to broad swaths of the nation. In many ways, my state of Indiana is a microcosm of America. We have urban areas(Indianapolis), a lot of manufacturing(especially Northwest/Northeast Indiana), plenty of agriculture(all across the state), coal mining(Southwest Indiana).
All across the state, we're getting hammered by Obama's policies.
Here in Northwest Indiana where I live, Obama's EPA is declaring war on American energy, instituting a plan similar to cap-and-trade even though cap-and-trade never passed Congress - even our local Democrat representative Pete Visclosky voted against it! This means fewer steel workers and higher utility rates. In addition, the Obama/EPA War on American energy is threatening to close our refinery in Whiting, a huge job creator and the biggest gasoline producer in the continental US outside the Gulf coast. That's just wrong.
In Northeast/North-Central Indiana, Obama's refusal to support American energy has hurt the RV industry and threatened jobs in places like Elkhart and South Bend. In addition, the values of Northeast and North-Central Indiana are being threatened, especially in the Catholic university of Notre Dame, where the Obama birth control mandate is a massive war on religious freedom. While I'm not a Catholic, many people I know both in my area and NE Indiana are, and for them, Notre Dame is a Catholic university that supports their values. Obama's war on religious freedom is hurting their communities. In Southwest Indiana, Obama's war on coal hits people especially hard. People in that area need coal mining jobs to provide for their families, but socialist Lisa Jackson is shutting down mines there. Also, this region, especially in the part bordering Kentucky, has enjoyed very low electricity prices for years. But the Obama war on coal is threatening the low cost of living in these areas. In Southeast, agriculture is predominant. Obama's been killing agriculture with his EPA. They even tried to pass a ridiculous regulation on farm dust as well as disallow kids from working on family farms. And in Indianapolis, the key urban area in Indiana, Obama's hurting companies like Ely Lily, Brightpoint, and Wellpoint with massive new regulations on pharmaceuticals, wireless communications(especially "net neutrality"), and healthcare. And all throughout Indiana, Obamacare means higher insurance premiums and lower healthacre quality. Since Indiana is a biomedical hub, the medical devices tax is killing thousands of jobs here, hurting families and our economy.
Liberals, why do you support these policies which hurt my state of Indiana, from the farm fields to the cities? In our state, we don't want a handout. We want the government off our backs. As a state, we unfortunately supported Obama in 2008 but in 2012 sent a resounding signal that more government is not welcome.
IMO, while liberals are wrong on many issues, their stance on energy is so destructive and antithetical to the idea of human progress that it makes me sick. Liberals, what is your rationale for supporting all of these destructive policies which hurt Indiana and America?
