How many would like Obama to ignore Congress?

executive orders don't "enact legislation"

Congess has ignored its responsibility to legislate

It has created a power vacuum that Obama and the courts are filling

Republicans are just pissed that in spite of their efforts to gridlock government until they return to power, Obama is still finding ways to lead

"Responsibility to legislate" does not mean "pass crap I like"

Win the house back, until then stop bitching.

What a great question! Come on libs! Tell the truth, now. You really, really want Obama to just take over, don't you? Be honest! Come on............

This is not a game. And unfortunately what we want is completely and utterly inconsequential to Congress, as we see by their stunning 8% approval rate.

They are getting ready to leave for the entire month of August for their vacation. What the **** do they think they are? French?

So check your local listings and if your Congressman holds a town hall meeting in August go to it and raise hell. Ours here is Rush Holt (a rocket scientist and former prof at Princeton, so not exactly your run of the mill Louie Gohmert) and he always holds town meetings in the summer because no one around here yells at him. That's about to change.

The town hall meetings that will make the news are John McCain's and anything in Texas because those people are off the rails and up Ted Cruz's skirt.

Obama is going to do what he wants to do after 6 years of bullshit from both sides of the aisle. It's out of our hands.

Yes it does

It is easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission

Obama should issue as many Executive Orders as he sees necessary and make Congress stop him. Then apologize and keep issuing EOs

Republicans are intent on stopping government at all levels. Legislation, court appointments, ambassadors

Doesn't mean Obama should just meekly go along with them

What is it with progressives these days? You basically want a King/Dictator.....

You are nothing but a bunch of anti-constitutional assholes.

Or just sign executive orders under the laws and rules already passed.

The problem is, Congress has already delegated a lot of authority to the Executive branch and federal agencies to enforce the law and make policy.

But when you have a Right Wing fringe that is so crazy that they vote out Eric Cantor for not being crazy enough, (and he was pretty crazy) I'm not sure how we are supposed to work with that, exactly.

You don't like Obama's executive orders, then sit down with the other side and pass laws that you can agree on.

No, actually, I would like a functioning government

The government functions just fine. Taxes get collected, the Military still runs, SS pays their checks. What you want is laws you like passed, and guess what? You don't have the House, so kindly go pound sand.

We all know that Congress is, to be kind, incompetent. They can't work together on anything. How many of you would like to see Obama bypass all of that nonsense and just use Executive Orders to enact what ever legislation you feel needs enacting?

Just wondering...

You know...............while I was in the U.S. Navy, and I saw someone who was incompetent because they either didn't care, or just hated the command, I was willing to go above their heads (i.e. to their supervisors) to get things done.

Congress is incompetent because there are a lot of Republicans (like Boehner and McConnell) who want nothing more than to stop the leadership by blocking him at every chance, even if it was something they supported only 6 months ago.

Obama has used LESS executive orders than Jr. did, and if you check the stats, he's done less on the executive order front than any other president.

If Obama can bypass the current do nothing Congress and actually get something done that is positive for this country, I say let him do whatever he needs, and issue as many executive orders as he can to get the business of this country done.

I mean.................Congress isn't going to do it, they hate him, and anything that even remotely supports him scares the crap out of them because it may upset their base.

They're not interested in helping this country, they're only interested in re-election so they can pass bullshit legislation (although, to be fair, they haven't passed much) that will help them soak up more of the corporate money that is coming from the lobbyists.

We the People used to own this country and our representatives via our vote. Now? Our country is owned by the lobbyists and the corporate interests that fund them.

Add in last time around the house had a larger democratic vote overall yet republicans still retained the majority.

Gerrymandering has skewed the country toward minority rule.

The Majority also voted for President Obama, twice. Personally? I think if legislators refuse to their jobs..they should be ousted. But that's not possible. Second best thing if legislators refuse to work is to have the executive make decisions. Which is part of the reason he is there in the first place.

President Obama has shown a great deal of restraint and made very careful moves regarding executive orders. And he still has issued less than Reagan or Bush Jr.

Yet?

Conservatives are in a panic every time he issues one.

They want to lock down government and bring it to a halt.

And that..simply is unacceptable.

Awww... what's wrong.

In 2006, Americans voted overwealmingly to end Bush's war. Bush escalated it.

When you have all three branches of government, you can make the rules.

More likely, though, you guys are on your way to political oblivion.

Say hi to the Whigs for me when you get there.

WAIT JUST A DAMN MINUTE NOW. EVERY DAY ON HERE I READ ABOUT HOW OBAMA HAS TAKEN OVER THE USA WITH ALL HIS EO'S.

Now, by implication, I learn that Obama hasn't really taken over the USA with EO's.
But there is still a chance for that to happen.

Interesting.

You have to have super-majorities in the legislature AND the States to "make the rules." Its call the constitution you jackass.

No the government does not function just fine

It will not do a thing unless some artificially created crisis forces them to. They are incapable of executing the most basic legislative functions. They cannot create a sensible budget. They do not fill vacant judgeships, federal agency leads or foreign ambassadorships. In the face of the biggest economic crisis in 70 years they chose partisanship over helping the people

I encourage our president to do everything possible to bypass Congress until such time as they start to do their job

Wow. You found a rare spelling error. Don't you feel special?

Okay. So when you guys get a "super-majority", you can stop Obama's Executive Orders.

Until then, have at it.

The president won the election. You guys lost.

What I'd like him to do is use his bully pulpit more, railing against the true "do nothing" Congress. I'd like to see a wave of anti, anti-government sentiment wash the teabaggers out of the government they hate.

Once again the far left shows that they will ignore their own Harry Reid as he tables so many things coming from the house in the standard far left tantrums.

Oh GSY. What is Boehner doing, twit? Filing a law suit, going to his tanning salon appointments and playing golf, because HE isn't doing shit either.

More far left propaganda and talking points that are not based in reality.

Even after the far left took over Congress all their stunts and propaganda went away as they did nothing that they claimed they would do in regards to the "war".

But then again the far left shows they do not understand anything beyond their programming.

I have to agree although I would prefer compromise from within Congress. Rachel Maddow last night highlighted the fact that we still don't have an ambassador to Russia. Incredible.

Looks like we may have one soon, though:

Your posts remind me of a parrot my neighbor has on his porch. Whenever you walk in he just squawks the same thing over and over again. It's a shrieking sound that, probably at one time, meant something. But the sheer repetition has turned it into meaningless background noise.
