How many of you wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning seemingly every night?

Have you tried checking your blood pressure & pulse when in pain and comparing it to your B.P. and pulse when not in pain.
Also, are you taking any blood thinners or blood pressure medications?

I can understand if you don't want to reveal personal medical information but those may be factors in my humble unprofessional opinion.

From what you have described, I think that it would be wise to have your condition professionally examined soon in spite of the cost.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Thanks,

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. I feel these words will one day be etched in my tombstone.

If I would have been born in the U.S, or, if my Mom as a young woman would have tried to move there; I am sure my good inclinations would have been leveraged to good use.

No, Im not obese.

Years ago I may have had apnea because I snored. I was overweight at that time though not obese. I don't snore anymore after I lost plenty of weight.
You describe the classic symptoms of sleep apnea.

You can get a fingertip oxygen monitor for less than $20 on Amazon or eBay. Then when you have an episode where wake up in the middle of the night you can check your oxygen saturation level to see if you are hypoxic. Your oxygen saturation should be at least 95%. Smoking and drinking can exacerbate sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea will cause problems with both oxygenation and ventilation. It causes both hypoxia and hypercapnia. And there are several different causes for sleep apnea, not just obesity. For instance Joe Biden's sleep apnea is caused by dementia. He has brain damage and the brain controls respiration. So he has to use a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine when he sleeps.

Sleep apnea can also cause chronic hypertension and glaucoma. Increased pressure in the eyeball can pinch the optic nerve and cause significant pain, or worse, it can make you permanently blind.

If you start getting vision disturbances you need to go to the ER.

Worse, how many of you don't get proper answers as to why.because your entire system is deficient or corrupt? Welcome to G-dless Ontario.

All the best to you. I have prayed to G-d for better health and I have faith my prayers will be answered.

I have short sleeper syndrome (SSS). If I go to bed at 11 PM I will likely be refreshed, energized and wide awake by 3 or 4 AM. Ready to start new day.

SSS is a rare condition and I view it as a blessing. My 10 year old seems to have SSS too. And my eldest child who is 39 now has SSS. So I'm wondering if there is a genetic component.

It's theorized that short sleeper brains just sleep more efficiently, so we need less sleep.

And we are in good company. Some well known short sleepers include Benjamin Franklin, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison and Donald Trump.
Yeah, I have it as well. 4 hours of good sleep and I am raring to go.

Try Trazadone, holy shit, I ran out of it on a Friday and could not get my prescription refilled until Monday, that weekend of sleep was terrible, and I mean really bad, where I woke up repeatedly and could not easily fall back asleep. Yesterday I got my prescription refilled and last night I was back to sleeping like a baby.

I had no idea I was so dependent on this for a good nights sleep, but here I am.

They will not give me medication for sleep

I am worried about my long term survival chances. I was worried the moment I received an MRI with a contrast solution when I didnt have one done.

The changes I have made have been positive though they haven't moved the needle too much. I cut out sugar and meat primarily.
They say people wake at 3 am due to stress. You are stressed. You clearly worry about a lot of things

I was given the results for an MRI that didnt match the procedure I went through.

No change in diet will alter the pain behind my eye, the random tingling and the numbness in the face and left side.
Have they looked for MS, TIA or stroke

It's probably a neuropathic issue, too broad to determine.

I had some manual tests done and have been prescribed some pretty heavy medication (by my standards). With follow up tests in a few months.

Finally someone has taken notice. I can't like with this much longer, it runs so contrary to how healthy I had been for years and I strongly hope and pray I can return to that condition

Sometimes I get up early and then my body says that was a mistake.

I usually dont have a choice unfortunately. I've been up since 2:30am. Pain behind the eye and a real discomfort. Once the pain starts, it's difficult to relax and go to sleep.

/——/ I’m usually up by 4:30 - 5 am. In fact it’s 5:34 right now as I eat breakfast. I read the older you get, the earlier you rise.

/ ——-/ Sorry to hear that. What does the Doc say?

The neurologist prescribed some medications and I have a cat scan, MRI and a second specialist to meet.

Unfortunately, after what I have been through I don't have faith in our healthcare system. For years I avoided it. The moment I need it, I have delays and wasted time.

I am serious about looking to try and find answers in the U.S. My life has value and just a couple of years ago I was as fit as one could be.

/—-/ Stay strong my friend. Don’t give up. Someone out there can help you.
