How many of these bums arguing for a bunch of public assistance don't actually stand to benefit from it themselves?

How many of these people would change their tune if they became financially independent adults and didn't stand to directly benefit from said policies? I think for many people it's just greed, want and laziness. Not all, but many.

Poor people in this country are morbidly obese. They don't need more money to buy food. And the "They can only afford McDonald's." bullshit became irrelevant when dinner at McDonald's started costing an arm and two legs. They're still fat.

For many it's poor life choices. The single mother with five kids, for example, who didn't learn after the first, or second, or third, that they are very expensive. Women attaching themselves to no-good men over and over and over. Etc.

However:

It is true that many poor areas don't have good grocery stores with fresh food. That's a legit problem.

I think we should get rid of the EBT card and supply vouchers good only for:

  • ground beef
  • tuna fish
  • chicken
  • eggs
  • milk
  • cheese
  • bread
  • cans of fruit
  • lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and salad dressing

That used to be called a USDA Staple Box.....You know, from the .gov cheese era.

Back before food stamps the Salvation Army in mt AO handled giving them out. If someone was "shut-in" they had volunteers to take the boxes to them....Even the Sheriff's Dept got into the act.

The grocery lobby put an end to it saying that the .gov was cutting into their business.....Thus food stamps were born.

This at the minimum. You can get a lot out of rice and beans. We don't owe anybody steak dinner and a mountain of junk food. If you're hungry you'll be happy with what you get.

That’s why I suggested ground beef. No steak.
Beans are protein. We want efficiency right? Get the biggest bang for our buck and feed the most people we can with something healthy? Be sparing even with the beef then. It's not essential and meat is expensive. We're offering people an out for starvation, not luxury of any kind. We can feed more people for cheaper with more basic and abundant foods.

And we should apply that principal to all taxpayer funded charity.

Could you clarify what you are referring to?

Well I started to make it about food as an example, but really I am talking about most taxpayer funded public assistance in general. Also programs that don't exist yet but are advocated for by left wingers.

I’d say ground beef about once a week. It’s the most I have it, and I have to PAY for it.
