Communism/Socialism/Progressivism is Authoritarianism. And that always leads to Totalitarianism. It does not promote Freedom & Liberty. So, good for the People of Venezuela. Now it's time for our own People to wake up. Right now, Americans are only living an illusion of Freedom & Liberty. But this march towards a Police State can be reversed. I'm still an optimist. I'm confident the American People will stand up eventually.

If Libertarianism is the Bee's Knees, why is there NOT ONE LIBERTARIAN COUNTRY in the whole world.

Why has there never been one libertarian country in the whole of human history.

The simple answer is that human trait known as self entitlement. People convinced that government has something to offer which they do not have to earn will vote for politicians that promise such gifts.
These people are frightened by the idea of individuals doing for themselves without interference from government.

I remember being in Venezuela in the late 1980's it was under marshal law. pretty wild. thanks running down the streets, everything barricaded off. armed jeeps and halftracks everywhere.

Before Hugo Chavez took over there was a large Native (Indian) population living in poverty. They weren't put in poverty by the establishment, they just continued living like they had been for centuries and progress left them behind.
Chavez promised these poor indigenous people 'their fair share' of the Nation's wealth. They voted him in and that was the end of his devotion to the poor. He immediately began punishing his opposition (sound familiar?), shutting down opposition newspapers, radio, and TV stations, and putting his own people in charge of them. He Nationalized the Oil Industry and kicked out all foreign Oil Companies.
As for the wealth he promised to share with the poor indigenous people, they were forgotten. He didn't need them anymore. The wealth went to support his political machine.
That runs parallel with what The Left is doing in the U.S. Not as severe or harsh, but the same strategy. Castro did it in Cuba, the Left does it everywhere. They exploit the poorest for their Party's power gain. The poor are seldom, if ever really helped, other than with crumbs from the Master's table, just enough to keep them dependent.

I did not copy and paste this. This came from my memory of information I've garnered since Chavez first took power. This is information from many sources, not, "copy and paste".

But feel free to 'copy and paste' it if you desire, I don't mind.

None of the quote from Natstew appears to be cut and past IMHO. He clearly states what happened and why Chavez was voted into office. And what happened after that is also clearly stated.

Actually he did write the Patriot Act. Or its continuation. Recall the act had a sunset provision. The Democrats reauthorized it and Obama signed it.
