Everyone agrees it would be much better for the US to produce more of what we consume. I knew that when we started giving corporations tax breaks to move overseas it wouldn't turn out good. The problem is that we don't have the factories to replace all that we now go overseas to get. The tariffs, in time will eventually bring production back to the US, but how long will it take to build factories to produce all that stuff here. what should patients who depend on imported pharmaceuticals to live do when overpriced drugs are too expensive to get? Tariffs will cause death until we are able to produce those thing here. Again, I'm all for returning manufacturing to the US, but isn't forcing a halt to imports causing more harm than good? How long will it take for factories to be built, and how many people will unnecessarily suffer in the mean time?

Building of factories creates thousands of jobs... companies left more because of regulation than anything else... slave labor in China was just an added bonus...
The main thing that will bring them back besides tariffs is the unstableness of other nations like China and India...

I can barely pay hundreds of dollars per month now Adding tariff costs will make them unaffordable.

Just listen to the lefties....Doom, and Gloom everywhere....

To the OP, "It's just too hard, so we shouldn't do it".....WTF!

The tariffs, in time will eventually bring production back to the US,
Actually not.

American workers aren’t going to work for $800 per month, which is the average wage in China.

It’s likely less in countries such as Thailand and Vietnam.

Even with tariffs, it will still be cheaper for American companies to have their products manufactured oversees.

Jobs aren’t ‘coming back’ – this is the fundamental ignorance and idiocy of Trump’s tariffs.

A good question. I am currently watching a WWII diary. When Germany factories were getting bombed day and night, somehow Speer managed to keep their manufacturing ability at nearly 100%

Point is, if we have the want. we can do it.

China just proved why we really have no say in the matter. If one day they do attack Taiwan, do you really believe we will be trading with them after that?

You are the idiot. Tariffs are how foreign countries have siphoned TRILLIONS of dollars out of our pockets and into theirs. Tariffs are the only way to fix it. Unless Clayton the Genius has another way, let's hear it.
