They played the Anthem BEFORE the players took the field.

If I remember correctly, the custom started when we were at war and they wanted to show support for our troops. I forget which war now.

I guess this lowlife multimillionaire quarterback didn't know that; not that he'd care. He's been banged in the head too many times to realize most Americans have some sort of quibble with our government, but that's not the way to express it.

Of course, leftists now claim he's a hero and the MSM follow. Gee, I wonder what would happen if they had a player do the same thing to express his unhappiness with boys in dresses going into our daughters bathroom and shower in school? Bet the new sissy NFL would suspend him.

You don't remember correctly. It is basically a paid ad campaign for military recruitment efforts which has become tradition. A lot like Black Friday. The song glorifies war. Not the best way to support troops.

For not wanting to stand for the national anthem before every sporting event I attend?
I don't feel the need to be reminded of my country origins before sporting events, I already get it, I'm an American. It is not something that I enjoy. I attend NHL games and the NHL takes it to another level by also honoring Canada before games where one participant is based in Canada. No thanks.

The moment they stop playing the national anthem before games is the moment I stop attending them.

Not sure why we should stop. As long as there is a topic of any sort, there will be those who are “pro” and those who are “con”. I personally like the custom and think it should continue.

We should stop the ridiculous military aircraft flyovers, paratroopers, etc… This is dangerous stuff and we shouldn’t be so cavalier about risking the lives of our best and brightest to make some people cheer in a stadium.

In fact, I think the honor guard should walk off the field, respectfully stow the colors, and be escorted by home team officials to the owners box to enjoy the game if they wish. They and their families.

NOW THAT WOULD BE A GREAT CUSTOM TO START. Give Sergeant Jones and his wife and kids a great seat for the game.
