This is the main giveaway that REAL ID has nothing to do with safety. It will be part of a mass surveillance program linked to facial recognition.
Do they take away your bottles of shampoo and make you remove your shoes at a federal office building? Why not? Why should you have to show any ID at all? Things that make you go hmmm...

"Real ID Has Nothing to Do with Safety
The argument that strict identification is a necessity for safety in airline travel is deeply flawed. The determinant of safety is what a passenger boards a plane with. Either a passenger is “naked,” in the security sense of the word, meaning thoroughly searched for arms or weapons, or he is not. It is ridiculous to presume that a passenger may take over an airliner with the pilots cabin door locked, as all now are. Armed air marshals are now on almost every flight. The requirement for a form of identification to enter federal buildings is equally ridiculous.
As Rep. Thomas Massie said in April in response to Trump’s announcement that Real ID will be enforced,

A recent court challenge to warrantless, 24/7 street surveillance by authorities is moving forward."“As long as the pilot’s door is locked and no one has weapons, why do you care that someone who flies has government permission?
Real ID provides no benefit, yet presents a serious risk to freedom.
If a person can’t be trusted to fly without weapons, why are they roaming free?”
