How do you detain a criminal at gun point?

I didn't say to shoot someone who has their hands up. I said shoot as they try to rob/kill/rape. You know, when they are in the process of committing a grievous crime.

You sound like you just want to have a problem.
but if they decide to run or surrender youre saying you have to go ahead and shoot them since you pulled your gun,,

No, I never said that.

You are being argumentative in a way that is unnecessary and annoying. Try and get a life or something. You know that that's not what I said.

you said if you pull your gun you have to use it,,

and if the bad guy runs or surrenders, using your logic you would shoot them in the back or with their hands up,,

what am I missing??

I didn't say that. I said, pull your gun only if you intend to shoot with it. And the only time you should intend to shoot is if someone is in the process of raping/killing...etc. And if that's the case, then any shots you put in the person will likely be considered self defense or trying to prevent serious harm.

You need to be aware that when someone is the process of raping/killing, he won't be running away or putting his hands up. So don't make it sound like I would be chasing someone down with a gun.

I never said different to you or the jedi idiot,,

with every scenario different things can happen in split seconds and just because you went in with intent to shoot for defense doesnt mean things wont change and you end up not needing to shoot,,

what of you dont have clear shot and the bad guy sees you and runs way??

don want to kill the victim do you??

You don't seem to understand the basics, you're pulling your firearm out because you're facing imminent threat of death or great bodily harm, if that's not the case then you shouldn't drawing (or carrying around) your firearm. Learn how to avoid situations that lead to confrontations, get some quality self-defense training and carry a non-lethal, and you won't have to draw your firearm so damn often. Heaven forbid your luck runs out and you end up in jail behind an aggravated assault charge or worse IN THE MORGUE.

No, it's ok for you to pull your gun and not shoot, until it's not. I'll continue with my strategy of using my skillset to avoid having to draw my firearm unless it's to stop an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm, in which case I'll actually use it for what it's intended for.
Wrong!

If a person is trying to steal something, you brandish as a threat, in order to get them to stop.
You do not have authority to shoot until after they have been warned.

Wrong.

You brandish to get the thief to stop committing the theft.

depends on where youre at and what state youre in,,

Where is the stealing taking place? If it's in a public area like a store, you let security deal with the perp. If someone goes into your home, then regardless of whether he is trying to rob you or merely to steal from you, you can shoot him. This is the castle doctrine.

Not according to the law.
Its only self-defense to shoot if they have and equally deadly weapon.
You cannot escalate.
If they are unarmed, shooting is illegal.
you are truly one of the dumbest mother fuckers I have ever heard,,,
