Censorship is the Sovereign preventing or punishing communications found to be unacceptable.

The First Amendment is essentially a declaration that the U.S. Federal Government cannot punish you for criticizing either the Government or any government official.

Censorship has nothing to do with the First Amendment. The Founders were totally fine with censorship, and State & local governments practiced censorship from long before the creation of the U.S. until relatively recently.

The idea that, for example, pornography was protected by the First Amendment never even occurred to Constitutional scholars before the 1950's. Thank you ACLU.

Let's try and get this back on track. So far, this is (and I CANNOT believe I'm typing this. ) the only cogent response as it's the correct definition of censorship. But don't touch the porno, man....ssssrong with you?

So. Is what the OP talking about considered censorship?...or silencing? (nothing overly nefarious). That is, removing the spoken/written word of dissent. And what is dissent? Going to the FCC and pulling the plug on let's say...Fox..or Newsmax....or NBC would be considered silencing. But, on the other hand, how long do you tolerate the same type of lies that have already disproven? Let outlets bray the same stuff over and over and over?
