How Christian Church will react to the creation of AI?

As you know, the Christian Church claims that man was created by God in the image and likeness of the Lord God. Now, in the 21st century, the issue of creating artificial intelligence is becoming relevant, apparently in the image and likeness of a person who can solve those problems that only a person could previously solve. I wonder how the Church will react to the possibility of creating artificial intelligence?

So long as there's an off switch, I would think no problem.

Replace AI with "cybernetics" or something like this then you know how the Churches reacted up to now in this context. Leibniz and Gödel are for example important mathematicians in this context - and many others. Gödel for example made a proof of god which is still today not disproved. The only problem: no one knows what to do with this proof, except to find out this proof is formally correct ... or to write computer programs which find out that this proof is formally correct. But only the best are able to do so.

The AI's which exist today are by the way absolutelly stupid, because they don't know what they'll do and the programmers who give them the rules how to find rules what to do also don't know what they really do. If you feed such an AI for example with hundreds of thousands of medical pictures about cancer (and the classification which was made from experts) then it is able to find rules how to classify such pictures and it gives back a result. But an AI is not able to classify the own result. It has no contact to the reality "cancer". It has only contact to mathematical rules which are represented from software. Such an AI will not say to you "Good morning, Dr. Frankenstein" - except one of the programmers made a joke.

I dont think that will be a big deal. But when scientists can create life from nothing.. well, that will be different.

The intelligence is artificial. Christians need not have an opinion one way or the other.

Today, yes, but in a hundred years, machines may become smarter than humans.

Why the "yes but" or even a "no but"? We do live for God by faith. We do not need all of the answers to every conceivable question. Who is leading us, our own minds, or the Holy Spirit of God?

Why do you think so? Because you grew up with such a science fiction idea? For a computer for example it's easy to solve thousands, millions or even billions of difficult calculations within a second - but if you throw some things on a table and a mosquito lands in all this things then they don't know what to do with this situation, while they have difficulties to identify what's on the table. A computer is not even able to identify himselve on his own. Nothing means anything to a machine.

The "imagine" that man and God share is not a physical image........its a spiritual image, as the power that animates that group of biological matter (life) can not be duplicated/reproduced. God is a spirit. Man was not given life until God breathed the spirit of life into him. The image spoken of in scripture is the eternal soul/spirit......it came from and it goes back to God to judge as He will. When is that image delivered to man..........just like in the beginning @ CREATION, not birth but creation.

God cannot lie. (Numbers 23:19). God is of truth (Deut. 32:4). If the image that man reflects from God is physical then God can be corrupted just like man. "Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man.....and birds, and four footed animal and creeping thing." -- Rom. 1:22-23

Being made in the image of God allows the ultimate gift of God. FREE WILL. Just like God, man can direct his fate by the decisions he/she makes........When it became obvious that man often freely chose to sin instead of obeying the laws set forth by God, God said, "...Behold man has became like Us (Genesis 3:22)....then "........Come let US go down and confuse their language....." -- Genesis 11:7 God became so displeased with the choices that mankind was making..........Noah was instructed to prepare for the great flood. (Genesis 6:4-7)

Show me a ROBOT.....of any nature made by man that has FREE WILL and can direct its own fate.

It's the nature of intelligence to create intelligence. So rather than AI implying God doesn't exist, AI implies God does exist.

It should be obvious that if the material world were not created by spirit that everything that has unfolded in the evolution of space and time would have no intentional purpose. That it is just matter and energy doing what matter and energy do. Conversely, if the material world were created by spirit it should be obvious that the creation of the material world was intentional. After all my perception of God is that God is no thing and the closest I can come to relating to God is consciousness without form . Using our own experiences as creators as a proxy, we know that when we create things we create them for a reason and that reason is to serve some purpose. So it would be no great leap of logic to believe that something like consciousness without form would do the same. We also know from our experiences that intelligence tends to create intelligence. We are obsessed with making smart things. So what better thing for a mind with no body to do than create a universe where beings with bodies can create smart things too.
