How can Hollywood make the movie "Noah"?

CNN, or maybe it was MSNBC said today, that it was a religious version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

There are people who believe that the Noah's arc thing could never have happened anyway. It would've had to have been gargantuan to take all the animals X 2 and wouldn't have withstood the flood.

The History Channel had a thing on where they speculated it was aliens who built a smaller boat and actually what was taken on it was DNA belonging to all the species of animals.

Pretty cool theory, huh? :)

I also read that the film is basically "religious void"...not only is the word God never said throughout the entire film, but the religious aspect is almost completely absent.
Also that they portrayed Noah as a homicidal maniac, chopping people up and even trying to kill his own family.
Then to top it off, they put in this giant "rock monsters" that helped Noah build the ark.
WTF??

Have you seen it or do you always take someone elses word for it?

I wasn't invited to Paramount's opening...sooo...yeah...how could I have seen it?
What I did see, and read, was the reaction of people who did.
Go ahead...google "Noah movie rock monster" - there you go...several dozen people who saw it commented on this rather strange character injected into the movie.
So rather than show God helping him...they make up some giant creature to do it...so much more realistic. :cuckoo:

Noah is supposedly portrayed as an animal rights activist and ecofreak.

Hence, the usual suspects can safely declare it to be part of the liberal Hollywood conspiracy.

Do you always close your eyes and swallow whatever is put in your mouth? I mean, you dont even bother to find out. Rumors are enough?

Sorry, I assumed you weren't too lazy to use a search engine yourself.

Atheist 'Noah' director brags film is least biblical Bible movie ever - Washington Times

Maybe you can find it. Or maybe you just swallowed again without looking. Is there mention of ecofreaks at that link or did he just move the goalposts again

How could this be? I thought Hollywood was anti-religion and punished those who were christians (which is 90% of the population in America)

How were they able to make these films without bursting into flames?

Hollywood IS anti-religion (or at least anti-Christian). The new movie "Noah" was directed by an atheist and completely deviates from the actual, biblical account. It's basically a mockery of the biblical story and totally misses the point and purpose of Noah's flood. The idiotic directer is trying to say that the flood occurred because of violence to the environment. The Bible says that it occurred because of abject rejection of God and mankind's sinful decline.

Jeez you would think that people who are so anti religion would reflect that by not making these films (for decade after decade).

Every movie will deviate from the biblical account because the bible isnt a script. Let these guys tell you

Does Noah follow the biblical story or not?
There are really two questions here: First, what does the film add to the biblical story? Second, what does the film take away from the biblical story?
Adding to the story is normal and expected in any biblical adaptation or any adaptation of any literary source material. Virtually all Bible movies add or elaborate upon characters, dialogue, motivations and other elements, either to help clarify the story, to imagine how it could have been or for other artistic reasons.

The MOST anti-religious folks are the ones who distort and rewrite biblical history. The Bible specifically states (in no less that 3 places) that we are not to "add to" or "take away" from Scripture.

Then every movie made by Hollywood about the Bible is out of order. Charlton "From My Dead Cold Hands" Heston is burning in hell.

He's not burning in hell if he accepted Christ as His Savior. And, as I recall, that movie at least attempted to portray the biblical explanation of events. There's a difference between attempting to tell a biblical story and purposely re-writing or distorting it.

"The Bible specifically states (in no less that 3 places) that we are not to "add to" or "take away" from Scripture."

The Bible (from Koine Greek τὰ βιβλία, tà biblía, "the books") is a canonical collection of texts considered sacred in Judaism and Christianity. There is no single "Bible" and many Bibles with varying contents exist.[1] The term Bible is shared between Judaism and Christianity, although the contents of each of their collections of canonical texts is not the same. Different religious groups include different books within their Biblical canons, in different orders, and sometimes divide or combine books, or incorporate additional material into canonical books.

The Hebrew Bible, or Tanakh, contains twenty-four books divided into three parts: the five books of the Torah ("teaching" or "law"), the Nevi'im ("prophets"), and the Ketuvim ("writings").

Christian Bibles range from the sixty-six books of the Protestant canon to the eighty-one books of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church canon. The first part of Christian Bibles is the Old Testament, which contains, at minimum, the twenty-four books of the Hebrew Bible divided into thirty-nine books and ordered differently from the Hebrew Bible. The Catholic Church and Eastern Christian churches also hold certain deuterocanonical books and passages to be part of the Old Testament canon. The second part is the New Testament, containing twenty-seven books: the four Canonical gospels, Acts of the Apostles, twenty-one Epistles or letters, and the Book of Revelation.

Yeah except its happened in every biblical movie that ever existed because the bible isnt a script.

So what is different about this one that makes any changes worst than every other one?

Folks (and Wiki) have been trying to discredit the Bible for centuries. Nothing new there. A careful study of the Bible's history (from a believer's perspective) paints a much different picture. You're certainly free to reject it but I (and millions of others) believe it on faith and believe it was providentially preserved by God for man's benefit.

So the national catholic register is against catholics? Who else? The Pope?

It's never right to change history just because you want history to change but I don't believe it's ever okay to distort someone else's writings. The "Noah" movie changes the most important, key factor concerning the flood story. That is -- it altered the very reason for the flood.

Now if someone wants to watch the movie version for fiction's sake then have at it. But if someone watches because they want to learn biblical truth then don't waste your money.

You never thought anything in your life.

By the way, Noah has a strong rabbinical flavor, so you basing Christians here only makes sense if you...

I was going to make a comment about you not thinking, but that seems redundant.
