Shame on Britain!

---

There is a story that is commonly told in Britain that the colonisation of India - as horrible as it may have been - was not of any major economic benefit to Britain itself. If anything, the administration of India was a cost to Britain. So the fact that the empire was sustained for so long - the story goes - was a gesture of Britain's benevolence.

New research by the renowned economist Utsa Patnaik - just published by Columbia University Press - deals a crushing blow to this narrative. Drawing on nearly two centuries of detailed data on tax and trade, Patnaik calculated that Britain drained a total of nearly $45 trillion from India during the period 1765 to 1938.

It's a staggering sum. For perspective, $45 trillion is 17 times more than the total annual gross domestic product of the United Kingdom today.

How did this come about?

India [ and Indians are ] is not a perfect angel......
so what?

Like India could ever have that much money to steal.

...

It was a scam - theft on a grand scale. Yet most Indians were unaware of what was going on because the agent who collected the taxes was not the same as the one who showed up to buy their goods. Had it been the same person, they surely would have smelled a rat.

But bribing American politicians to replace millions of Americans with Indian Business Visas is just fine and dandy.

When the right chunder on about third world countries and "african shitholes" they tend to airbrush out the reason that these places are relatively poor.
You see it on this thread already. I would like to see similar research done on Africa.

India was a huge racket designed to enrich the English establishment

But at least they stopped the thugs and gave India cricket so that all right.

H-1B shall be renamed to 'Visa for fraudulent Indians'. By the way Indians are very stinky, it is impossible to drive in a cab where had drove an Indian before.

Even today western countries routinely engage in activities to destabilize non-western countries. The sole agenda is to prevent their progress.

India's GDP was the highest at the time British first started to steal/rob resources from India. Europeans particularly Brits were nothing but marauders at that time. Also if you brush up your history, you would learn that major fights took place between Hindus and Brits not between Muslims and Brits. Muslims were brought under control by Hindus in the West and in the South long before Brits came to India. North India was the only place Muslims had some hold on and that was dismantled by Sikhs just before the arrival of Brits.

As far as ship building is concerned, Indians were building ships long before there was a country called Britain. Jews who were fleeing rape and murder from Romans, escaped to India on Indian merchant ships that used to sail to Roman provinces on trade missions.

Nalanda University was built by Indians more than thousand years ago - once again long before there was a country called Britain. The language you are writing in is an offshoot of Sanskrit - an Indian language. First comprehensive medical system Ayurveda was practiced in India not in Britain.

Jewish migration towards West happened systematically. They moved to parts of Europe that were closer to Middle East first then they started to move further and further west. Eventually they reached western Europe including what is known as UK today. Their arrival into Europe has been marred with controversy. Jewish diaspora in Europe initially were the patrons of European royals who were impressed with new trading and taxation ideas that Jews brought with them. The royal patronage brought significant wealth and influence to Jews throughout Europe. This resulted in serious resentment towards Jews from the common Europeans who started to develop mistrust for Jews. England was no exception. There was massive outcry from English people to expel Jews from England; as a consequence they were expelled from England; this was recalled and Jews were allowed to return later on. People who backed this recall were the noblemen who benefited from Jewish ideas related to trade and commerce. An alliance between corrupt Anglo-Saxon elites and ambitious Jews culminated in the idea of East India Company. The objective was to capitalize on the sea trade route between India and Europe. Initially, East India Company's objective was limited to trade and commerce but then India had a misfortune of undergoing internal destabilization. The destabilization was a product of internal conflict between Hindus and Muslims; Hindus at that time were engaged in protracted campaign to free India from Muslims. Large sections of Indian territories in West and South were liberated by Hindus from Muslim rule. Sikhs joined hands with Hindus and liberated North from Muslim rule. East India Company was watching this and they realized that it was a golden opportunity for them to take over parts of India and they did. Brits were a predatory people who happened to be in the right place at the right time and they took advantage of that. Anyway, going back to the alliance between European elites and Jews, the resentment towards Jews continued to build throughout Europe. This climaxed into World War II where Hitler unequivocally laid all blames on the Jews. World War II saw Indian soldiers fighting and dying in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia to serve British/Jewish interests. World War II was a war which brought no benefits for India even though thousands of Indians were killed during this war. Before World War II, Brits promised that they would leave India but they did not. By the time World War II ended, Indian resentment towards Brits was beyond control and it spilled into Indian armed forces - the very armed forces that Brits built to solidify their colonial rule. The revolt in Indian armed forces spread rapidly. Many British officers were taken prisoners. Britain sought the help of US but US advised Brits to get out of India. At this stage, Brits started to negotiate with Indian national leaders Patel, Gandhi, Nehru, etc. At the request and assurances of Indian national leaders that Brits would leave India, the armed forces returned to their barracks. On August 15th 1947, Brits officially left India.
