How about some real life examples of American socialism? And how it’s hurt us .

I’ll give you an example : US socialism going waaaay back to the 1800s . When the gov purchased and then opened up the west and gave away land to Americans.

as a conservative I can give some REAL examples of how socialism has affected me.

1. I love football!
and all over the country our tax dollars are being used to build GIGANTIC football stadiums so that I can pay $10 for watered down beer at the game. LOVE socialism!

2. Being married with 4 kids I get TAX BREAKS which result in my paying LESS for taxes than single people do, or gays, or married people with no kids. LOVE socialism!

3. Being politically INcorrect I have spent my whole life smoking tobacco (while arresting pot smokers), drinking way too much, eating fatty unhealthy foods, refusing to diet or exercise and NOW I have heart disease and diabetes and bad knees and bad back and bad legs and bad lungs and I have to go to the doctor all the time and take all of these expensive medicines and pills(because i still refuse to diet or exercise) but that is Ok because I have Medicare or Medicaid and EVERYBODY ELSE is going to pay for my irresponsible lifestyle! LOVE socialism!

I don't know why. I definitely have my guesses, though.

The problem is that any program set up, run and funded by the government to benefit society, is "socialism", not the definition being used by American conservatives. Those programs give their citizens a tremendous amount of freedom to plan and organize our lives.

I have lived my life with the full knowledge and understanding that my basic medical care is a given. Whether I am working full time, unemployed or retired, I never in my life have had to worry about having enough money to take care of my medical needs. I don't have to save up for treatments or worry about co-pays, these things are a given. That, in and of itself, is freedom you don't have. I don't have to worry about what happens to my health care coverage if I change jobs, or if I'm unemployed for any length of time. Health care is my right.

Imagine if you had that freedom.

The freedom of waiting for a year to get a knew replacement. The freedom of waiting 6 months to get chemotherapy if you have cancer. The freedom of never receiving some kinds of treatments because the ministry of health decided that they were too expensive. The freedom of waiting 6 months to get an MRI to determine if you have a tumor in your brain.

Yeah, that's real freedom!

why? first off, I'm not lazy, I have prepared for such things in my life by working at a company that provides me healthcare. it was a main benefit I shopped for when I did my job searches. I saved money so that in the event I lost my job, I had money to use to transition to a new job. I took the responsibility of myself and my family. why can't you?
