Hobby Lobby and the Loss of America's Soul

We're not a free country any more

Progressive need to be completed defeated because there is just no end to all the good things then need to do to and for us

Why should the owner of Hobby Lobby have a right to impose his/her religious convictions on every employee?

What gives you the right to work for them?

Nothing - if they don't want me - they don't have to hire me. But just because they hire me - that doesn't mean I have to worship their "God" in the way they demand.

I'm a Christian and I personally oppose abortion (which is handy since I'm a man - that's one conviction I never have to worry about being tempted to ignore.)

I think it's funny that people lament the lack of "freedom" in this country because one person is not being allowed to force their religious convictions on another.

I think the owners of Hobby Lobby need a body cavity search by tsa agents as well. They're hiding something. I KNOW IT!!!

seriously though, why can't the thumpers just sell their trinkets in their church lobby & leave the rest of us alone? :dunno:

That isn't what I asked, guy.

I asked what made Romney "not a real conservative", and you have YET to provide one substansive example of how he strayed from the Orthodoxy of Conservative Batshittery.

If only he stood up to Limbaugh and the Teabaggers, he might have gotten some moderate votes.

He wouldn't have gotten mine because I hate Mormons, but hey, he might have stood a chance.

Blaming the "Obama Phone" lady for your inability to connect with voters is kind of a cop-out.

If you can't sell your message in this environment, when would it sell?

You seem to be doing a fine job of replying to yourself and still making no sense. :clap2:

And you STILL never answered the question of what made Mittens a RINO during this election.

I'm guessing that's cuz you can't.

not that this is the topic of this thread but Mittens was a known RINO because of his track record ....like his healthcare program in MA and his wishywashy positions.....something you can't really ignore just because he spouted conservative values during the campaign....

however he was and is a fairly conservative man when compared to the flaming liberals of the Democrat Party....specifically like the marxist BO who attacks religion using administrative rules out of his 2,000 page monstrosity that he gunned through congress right after election.... without the blessing of the majority of Americans i might add...

"Conservative values" got bitch-slapped in November and that's why you got nothin'.

yes conservatives as promoted by Romney took a whipping....but then milktoast Romney wasn't exactly the best spokesman for those values....however we got plenty of tough conservatives waiting for you in the bullpen....

yes we know you secularists hate christians.....they probably make you feel guilty deep down somewhere in your perverted psyche.....now go whine somewhere else....

As long as the left thinks that birth control is free, there is no hammering facts into their thick heads.

What's just mind-boggling, really, is that people can become so twisted in their thinking so as to believe that other citizens should be forced to pay for their recreational sex. It's absurd. But then, we're talking about the thuggish Left, who don't believe in ANY individual's right to choose... that is, with the exception of butchering unborn babies.

No, I don't think the First Amendment is a bad idea, and it's a bullshit way you ask the question... Should I be free to yell "FIRE!" in a crowded theater?

The freedom of shareholders of a corporation to worship is no way infringed upon by the legal obligation of said corporation to provide employer provided health care coverage that meets certain minimum federal standards. Just like the freedom to worship and trust in God for protection is in no way infringed upon by forcing car manufactures to meet certain minimum safety standards, trust in God be damned.

"freedom to worship" is a confining term used by lefties......it implies freedom to just go to church and pray....however the 1st gives us the right to FREELY EXERCISE our religion......it does not confine that free exercise to a church....or area for "worship"....nor does it ban businesses from exercising their religion either....Obamacare's law prohibits the free exercise of religion...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

Exercise away... nobody is trying to force birth control on anyone who doesn't want it for themselves and their family.

Should a good Muslim employer be able to withhold pay from an employee when they know that the money will be spent on porn and alcohol?

When health care coverage is no longer tied to employment, this argument is moot - until then, because of the treatment of health care insurance dollars in the tax code, that coverage is considered part of a compensation package and minimum federal standards should be met, religious differences be damned.

We live in a secular country that is governed by Civil Law, Religious Law be damned. This is the whole point of Congress being specifically prohibited from establishing a state religion.

you can't 'damn religion' when you obviously don't believe in damnation....:eusa_silenced:

and you obviously have NO CLUE how BO and his minions are chipping away at your freedoms set forth in our Constitution....

idiot liberals will sell their freedoms for contraceptives....:cuckoo:

No one does, dummy. The insurance pays for it and the employee pays for the insurance.

Blow it out your ass, toad.

If the employees paid for it, there wouldn't be a problem. Hobby Lobby is paying for it.

A solution is for Hobby Lobby to stop paying any insurance, give the employees the money and let them get their own insurance. As long as employers are paying the tab, they should not have to pay for that which they object to.

Hobby Lobby, like many companies, offers health care coverage as an employee benefit. So yes, the employee pays in the end, dope.

you have two choices to work for the same salary.....one at a company that provides healthcare and one that doesn't.....

which would you choose...and why....?

If the owners of Hobby Lobby want to abstain from abortion - then fine.
They don't have the right to force their religious practices on every one of their employees.
Since when does "religious freedom" include the right to shove your religious views down someone else's throat?

bullcrap....

nobody is forcing you to work at Hobby Lobby....

nobody is stopping you from buying your own contraceptives....

the only one being FORCED to do anything is Hobby Lobby.....forced to pay for your contraceptives and abortion pills...

No one is forcing Hobby Lobby to hire anybody.
But if they DO hire a person - they don't have the right to shove their religious views upon that person.

how are they SHOVING RELIGIOUS VIEWS on you if you have the RIGHT TO CHOOSE to work there or not...?

seems to me the only one SHOVING is the federal govt. and HObby Lobby is the one without the right to choose....

Wow...hyperbole much? A fucking hobby shop CHAIN STORE is the "soul" of America? What reality do ya'll exist in?

The one where we selectively follow a book of 3000 year old superstitions....

Here's a reality check. Only two people should be involved in a woman's decision to use contraception.

The woman and her doctor.

Not employers, insurance companies, churches or governments.

So why are ya'll involving the employer and the insurance company?

A fairly powerful insurance lobby in the 60's & 70's that successfully created health insurance monopolies revolving around employer provided health care coverage.

If the republicans has signed off on a true public option back in the summer of '09, this thread wouldn't need to exist.

Actually, employer provided health care started during the FDR years as a way to compensate employees whose wages were held down by price controls. The tax code has made this a long term feature of employment. The real answer is to change the tax code so that health insurance is a personal expense decoupled from employment.

Employers are the ones who choose their employees. Not visa versa. Telling all your employees that they must adhere to your religious philosophy or "hit the road" is about as unAmerican as it gets.

Abortion/contraception is (and should be) a legal issue - devoid of any religious considerations (when it comes to employment law).
