There are three big hoaxes and many smaller ones that have changed politics and also distorted history in the decades since WW2 (and maybe before). The first and the most egregious is the ‘Far Right’ mythology.
The idea that National Socialism was not ‘socialist’ as the name (and history itself) implies but was ‘conservative’ (note the small ‘c’) instead, was a brilliant construct which worked incredibly well to lump the ‘small government’ right as just an adjunct of the Nazi Holocaust of Jews and Slavs and others, and thus that ‘racism’ is the socially undesirable outcome of small government ‘far-right’ politics. It played upon educated people’s naïveté and historical ignorance to divide them, rule them and shut them up, thus making them politically impotent against the extremist left; the Western institutions were thoroughly penetrated by leftist apparatchiks.
Anything Hitler did, Stalin and Mao had also done in a far, far worse fashion, but then all of them were part of the socialist political religion and thus knew no better…
The disembowelment of classical liberalism that followed gave rise to the long (Marxist) march through the institutions of state in many countries, as there was no co-ordinated opposition. Half of conservatives still do not realise that they have been had and that the way back is not to slag off fellow conservatives but to constantly expose the ‘far right’ lie, and show that ‘racism’ is a tool of the left and a misinterpretation of the need for the cultural stability that is the root of nationhood.
To want to enforce the laws of the land is not ‘Fascist’ or ‘Nazi’ or ‘racist’ as Democrats would have us believe. Illegal immigration, is surprisingly enough, illegal! and ‘illegals’ are criminals…
So we end up with an incomplete Marxism implemented to various degrees, in a Europe and US governed by the forces of politically religious emotion and zeal rather than political integrity and the rule of law.
Communism’s appeal is not rational, but psychological, and those who worship at the church of Karl Marx are borderline insane. Socialism in all its forms has failed every time, bringing death through judicial murder and starvation to hundreds of millions.
