I know he's doing stuff behind the scenes, but weren't the Democrats predicting he would re-emerge after his summer vacation and continue his messiahship for them?

After all, his entire presidency is being methodically dismantled. It would seem a good time for him to arise and howl at the opposition that's largely excising him from all but the most interstitial entries of history.
