fdr, to fix the depression, increased taxes and spending and created the Great Depression
obama did the same thing, extending the affects of the recession

Harding's response t the depression of 1920 was to cut taxes and 1/2 gov spending and that led to the Roaring 20's.

So why didn't those socialist programs remain temporary? At one time Social Security and other programs were called communistic, so I guess some views change with usage.
