My question for anyone who bullies other people: What makes you think that a sleeping dog will not come to life if you kick it in the wrong place hard enough? If you don't want to be attacked, leave it alone!!!

As far as the law is concerned, it would depend on whether or not it was "self-defense", or "fighting / revenge", that's all I have to say.

Self-defense laws are a tricky subject, and I'm not an expert on them.

Example: Hitting a kid in who was attacking him first would potentially be "self-defense" - ambushing the kid in the locker room and beating him up for something he did a week ago wouldn't be, it would be considered "fighting" or "assault".
