ACU gave Lieberman a 2010 rating of 4 which means he is 96% liberal. Lieberman's lifetime conservative rating is a puny 15.6. ADA does not do lifetime ratings, only yearly scores. The liberal group gave Lieberman a 75% liberal rating for 2010.

A distinction without a difference. The National party backed his opponent in retaliation for supporting W in Iraq. I lived in Connecticut then. Of course once the DNC got the steering wheel back from the Republicans, they all advocated staying in Iraq, it was just a political thing. The Republican polled about 6%. He was a piece of garbage. Ironically he won because no one thought Lieberman was beatable and the Republicans couldn't get a real candidate to run.

When the Democrats beat Lieberman, Republicans across the State begged the Republican to drop out because suddenly they had a shot and he had no chance. He wouldn't have won the election if only Republicans voted, he was a despicable human being. He wouldn't do it. So when Lieberman ran as an independent, he carried almost the entire Republican vote and a lot of Democratic vote and won easily.

Then after getting kicked out, of course Lieberman caucused with Democrats and for a while was the difference keeping them in the majority. They were 51-49, but Cheney was the vote breaker in a tie. So the Democrats were nice to him. Then when they had a more comfortable command of the Senate, they punished him again and stripped him of his best committee assignments.

Democrats were brutal to the guy, and it was over one issue. Other than Iraq, he was a hard core leftists socialist like the rest of you people.
