Everyone is desperately trying to tie this (and every) mass shooting to some political ideology when the issue might be darker and much more disturbing. There is zero evidence that he is Antifa or any political ideology at this point.

Highland Park suspect's online history reveals a fascination with violence

The 21-year-old suspect made music videos about shootings, and apparently posted thousands of times to a message board dedicated to sharing graphic photos and videos of violence.

Holt described Crimo's online footprint as in line with movements that try "to make themselves seem very intense and very violent to accumulate a certain amount of perverted clout among other people in the same online spaces."

"There are portions of the internet that pride themselves on this fetishization of violence, of being as offensive as humanly possible," he said. ​

Among the most disturbing is what appears to be Crimo's activity on a forum called Documenting Reality, where people share graphic photos and videos that show the aftermath of violence.

There, a user named "Awake47" shared photos of Crimo and posted a 21st birthday message that matches information released by the FBI. The user regularly passed footage of shootings and other real-life violence.


What you have are these online spaces essentially incubating mass shooters, and Crimo isn’t the only one who fits this new mass shooter profile - Ethan Crumbly and Salvador Ramos do as well.

I was listening to a profiler being interviewed on the radio, and he was saying how these online spaces blur the boundaries between fantasy and reality until they become completely untethered from reality. What you are seeing is a completely different kind of radicalization going on, but it’s not tied to any group, person, religion or ideology And THAT is worrisome. Now do you combat that?
