Donald Trump made a statement on Sunday that many critics interpreted as exhibiting his weakness.
President-elect Donald Trump used a speech to MAGA supporters to strongly push back on claims that billionaire Elon Musk had effectively taken over his presidency. While speaking to Turning Point USA's AmFest conference attendees on Sunday, Trump argued that "big companies" wanted him to cut regulations more than slashing taxes.
"But no, he's not going to be president that I can tell you," Trump also insisted. "And I'm safe. You know why? He can't be. He wasn’t born in this country."
This comment went viral, with Scott Dworkin, the Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Democratic Coalition, saying, "This confirms that Musk is the President-Elect."
Popular satire account Mrs. Betty Bowers replied with, "This is great for two reasons: (1) it shows that all this President Musk talk is getting under Donald’s notoriously thin skin; and (2) it has to be very insulting to JD Vance."
Artist Art Candee said, "President-elect Musk is running the country."
Obama appointee Eric Columbus said, "The last guy Trump claimed wasn’t born in this country was president for eight years."
A group of current and former Republicans who oppose Trump, The Lincoln Project, said, "No previous president-elect in history has ever had to say this."

Critics saying negative things about Trump, we heard this all before the election on how Trump was weak, was desperate, senile and on and on, now we know the critics lied straight to the public’s faces and yet they, as stupid as they and you are, are now trying to do the same again. I really don’t pay attention to polls or Democrats, they are just like Republicans, the Democrats lied and said Covid was not out of a lab, despite the fact the lab with the Covid 19 was in Wuhan, where the first cases started, Democrats were so afraid of that information that they banned people on social media that even suggested it. Lied about about the biology of a woman. Lied about the number of Covid deaths. The Democrats lied about Joe Biden being mentally fit, even in 2020 before the election, it got worse and worse to the point staffers were told to make meetings short and concise as Biden didn’t have any attention span, they lied to the American people about the effectiveness of the Covid vaccine, they lied to the American people about how bad the border crisis was, lied about how bad inflation was hurting Americans, lied to the American people about who THEY had running the country, it certainly was not Biden. They continued to lie about Biden’s health during the primaries, they were ready to jeopardize American twice with the election of Biden and then tried to do it again, they lied during the campaign about Trump’s mental health, they used the DOJ to persecute and try to jail political opponents, they compared Trump to Hitler and Nazi, with no proof. They for the last nine years lied and twisted Trump’s words. They lied and claimed Harris was going to win by a landslide, they lied to America so amy times that we can no longer sit back and think the Democrats have the high ground, so forgive me for thinking what Democrats say is now utter fake news bullshit. Congrats Democrats you assholes are no better than Republicans. Now tell us who was running America for the last four years because we all now know it sure the hell wasn’t Joe Biden.
