Here's what marijuana really does to the developing brain, according to a psychiatrist

Cigarettes have over 600 additives, including acetone, ammonia, and toluene.

Not to mention residual pesticides.

Whereas most pot is grown indoors, has no additives and no pesticides.

What is a fact is that marijuana has a biphasic effect on blood pressure, which can't be good for the capillaries.
I went to a pulmonologist about 10 years ago for a case of chronic bronchitis I was having. He said overall my lungs looked good. At the time I was in the process of quitting smoking and I was down to just a few cigarettes a week and mostly at work. So I decided to pop the question about marijuana versus tobacco. The pulmonologist told me that marijuana smokers, as long as they didn't smoke anything else, had considerably less lung damage compared to tobacco smokers. Not to say that it's good for your lungs, however! If I was going to do that at this point in my life I'd probably just take gummies.

Good one-- However , I had Chemo-therapy in 1999. I boiled it up and made TEA out of it-- Only way I could eat-- So ,like any other dangerous drug ,it does have SOME use. But Recreation? NO WAY
Cancer/chemo is only one of the medical indications.

MS, ALS, chronic inflammation, auto immune symptoms in general, arthritis, a host of bone diseases, anxiety, ... etc etc

Pot is the oldest form of human self medication, older even than alcohol. The oldest known recipe for bhang is over 4000 years old.

Pot has no use beyond intoxication.

Horseshit.

Since you don't have a medical degree, no one has to listen to you.

I'm not an MD either, but I have an Ivy League medical degree and 40 years in biological research. I studied the mechanisms of psychoactive drugs in places like the Salk Institute.

You should stop bloviating on things you know nothing about. Hysteria is not good for medical science.

Sorry, but that is just a stupid comparison for reasons that should be obvious. Far more people smoke marijuana that are exposed to asbestos. Asbestos is rarely used anymore except in certain circumstances. Back when it was, many people got sick and died. With marijuana use it was the occasional person like you who was different in some way, who probably already had some kind of predisposition, or was attempting to get something out of it that it couldn't provide. So again, look who's being obtuse? 😏

And you completely skipped the fact that I already indicated that marijuana use has varying levels of risk for different types of people.

Ok, so now you're going to call all people who smoke marijuana names. And YOU are the one who had/has the issues. Wow! 😲

It's very clear that you carry with you a lot of self-loathing regarding this.but you project this onto others as you perpetually try to distance yourself from it.

Bye now.
Of those exposed to either, the proportion of people with issues with pot is three times greater than those with issues with asbestos.
3 in ten for pot, roughly 11% for prolonged asbestos exposure.

Horseshit.

Do you know how many pot smokers there are in this world?

3 out of 10 of them don't have issues, that's a complete lie.

That's some bad shit, make no mistake. Remember when corrupt, paid doctor's swore cigarettes were neither harmful nor addictive? I hope they rot in hell.

Pot causes psychosis, psychotic episodes, anxiety disorders, clinical depression, etc. Mental illness.
Established facts. Some of us have known through experience for decades.
The industry is controlling the messaging and most advocates are clueless.
Those who want to use it will look for every possible reason to make it harmless or even beneficial. I have a niece who has been and/or is hopelessly addicted to it and was recently diagnosed with severe scarring of her lungs from smoking it many times a day. She has convinced herself it was not the pot but rather COVID years ago that caused that scarring. She used to be an intelligent, astute, beautiful healthy woman. She isn't any more.

And the loss of brain function--memory, cognizance, IQ--that pot causes in the developing brain, at least up to age 25--is generally considered irreversible by most experts.

Second hand marijuana smoke does get into the bodies of those who are near the user.

All this makes me believe it should continue to be a strongly controlled substance and every effort should be made to keep it unavailable to the young who shouldn't even be exposed to the smoke.

I see your point. But, the genie is out of thr bottle. Thetes a ton of high paid professionals who use it frequently snd laugh about it.

That's a fact. Credentials do not necessary represent common sense, ethics, or intellectual honesty.

Winston says they just have tobacco and water. 'Sup?

Why in the **** are you sperging out all Reefer Madnessy?

I'll admit that I've never been a huge fan of cannabis. Given that the source is Fox News, some may accuse it of fearmongering, but I'm curious nevertheless.

A recent French study suggested that cannabis use raises the risk of heart attack and stroke more than cocaine, while a Canadian study found that dementia risk is connected to cannabis-related hospital visits in older individuals.
Been toking since 1977, still no heart attacks or mental problems.
