200 national guardsmen are hardly an "overbearing military force" in a city the size of Portland. Many (officers and high-ranking NCO's) would be sequestered in a headquarters location, not patrolling the streets.

Nah it's not a slippery slope. The rich starting around 1978 socially engineered our society to where for the next 45 years they would get all the raises and the middle class wages would stall.

2. They sent jobs overseas where labor was cheaper

3. They got Reagan, Bush and Trump to give them tax breaks they didn't need and we can't afford.

4. They broke unions. Did you see how well unions did on Biden's watch? They all got raises. You guys say you want to help uneducated blue collar workers by brining jobs home and kicking out illegals who steal their jobs. How's that working out? Maybe you should encourage them to form unions so they have a seat at the table.

This is what's wrong with America. The middle class did too well since FDR's new deal and unions represented 35% of our workforce. The rich wanted to maximize their profits. How? By lowering their labor costs. Duh.

Let me remind you that in 1999, 1998, etc. Every year the Big 3 had record profits and gave their employees record profit sharing checks. Of course corporations sent all those jobs to Mexico. They hate labor costs. Bush should have never let them leave.
