When I was in, I had ONE Battalion Commander (LTC) that would actually PT with the men. Not do three push ups, walk around for 15 minutes and then suddenly disappear. Actually perform every exercise to muscle failure. On runs, he was always out front. He didn't enforce the standard he couldn't personally meet. He SET the standard.

Hegseth was never a high ranking military officer, nor did he ever serve in a high-ranking government position as a civilian. He has never managed a huge organization in his life, and the Dept of Defense is as massive as it gets. He is woefully unqualified.
