Hegseth defends returning Confederate monument to Arlington National Cemetery

Wrong, not evil.

It was part of the standard human condition for far longer than it has not been.
WTF is the matter with you?

There is no world where slavery is not pure evil
To celebrate a nation formed to enshrine slavery is also evil

Once again, the attempted link of bad acts in the past to current people.

Pathetic.
I wouldn’t be able to link those bad acts of the past to current people if current people did not celebrate those acts

It was part of several past socities social structure for centuries. From Roman slaves to European Serfs, to even war slaves in Africa and Asia.

It was wrong, not evil.

I reserve evil for actual evil, not as a political punch line.

And yes Trump is guilty of over-use of the word as well.

Not celebrate, refuse to destroy or eliminate memorials put up by the people who lost, who were forgiven by the people who beat them, and were told you can mourn your loss as you see fit, but don't ever ******* try that shit again.

In what world is owning another person and their children not evil?
That is ACTUAL Evil

In our world it would be evil, because we have moved past that.

For people in the past where it was part of the social structure, the LEGAL social structure, to me you call it wrong.

Some things have been morally, ethically, and legally wrong since we started making laws, ethics and morals.

Slavery isn't one of them.

Daughters of the Confederacy erected those memorials all over the south.
The timing of those memorials coincided with black civil rights

The south used confederate symbols to put negroes in their place.

And with the dying off of the people that did the fighting.

During the 60's, yes, and they still lost....again.

Before the 60's they just used laws, enabled by Plessey, another terrible SC decision up there with Scott, Roe and Chevron.

Why the Confederacy was formed

Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth. This truth has been slow in the process of its development, like all other truths in the various departments of science.

That was the position of Southern slave holders

But if you think poor farmers in the Confederacy fought and died so that the rich elites could own slaves you are sadly mistaken

They out of loyalty to their state which they held above the Union which was dominated by rich Yankees

Unmm
Yes, Slavery is evil

To celebrate it is evil
I'm sorry, Mr. Right Ringer, but I think you have a skewed perception of reality. Do you really believe that white Southerners celebrate slavery and want to return to the times of slaves? No, you're wrong. Those were very bad times for the majority of the white population. If you didn't own property, weren't a merchant, or a professional, you were in desperate shape. It did no good to have a skill, because all the skilled labor was done by slaves. A poor person could survive—provided the hunting and fishing were good—but when conditions turned bad, they watched their children starve.

No, sir. The end of slavery was the best thing that ever happened to my people. Sharecropping was a gift sent from God. I've heard many Black posters denigrate sharecropping, but to my people, it was their salvation. During slave times, the condition of poor whites was so bad, they were even looked down upon by well-fed slaves.

No sir

The Confederacy was an atrocity.
Formed specifically to ensure the continuation of slavery. It was 40 percent slave and had an economy built on free labor.

Celebrating that Confederacy is an insult to humanity.

The sole purpose of forming a Confederacy and breaking away from the US was..

upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.

It's a good thing a Republican President came along and ended the Dimwinger's inhumane slave trade, huh?
You’da voted against Lincoln and everyone knows it

***** shit…let’s stop ******* around and reinstall ALL Robert E. Lee statues

This is a Faux News Zionist Fascist Big Government supporter who claims he is a "conservative."

He wants taxpayer funding to celebrate treason and slavery.

He isn't the slightest bit conservative. The late Robert Byrd would call him a "white n-word."

It was one of the main causes

But not the only one
