Yes, I'm sure that was on his mind. Resign (actually retire), take the opportunity to give a parting shot to the CiC, and hope to get a big book deal for some variation of the title,"You know that Trump Sux, but this Books Proves he Sux Even MORE than That!" But that money has to be drying up by now, surely. With as many people who are trying that same stunt, they cannot make millionaires out of all of them.

In my first unit as an officer, an E5 was leaving the Army after two enlistments, which was rare as most folks serve one and done, or stay in until retirement. Any, this Sergeant took the opportunity of his going away party to make some negative comments about the unit. My Sergeant was pissed. "That's a Spec Four trick. That was lame. You didn't have the balls to say it when it meant something, don't waste our time with it now that you're leaving."

No one can seem to tell me what General Donahue would do when an underling "clashed" with him.
