Interesting..I missed this--of course, all elective procedures are cancelled! Staff that depend on this are at loose ends. As hospitals gear up for possible outbreaks..they are consolidating their work forces...and laying off many! For those that are not aware...the profit in healthcare definitly in elective procedures...and small hospitals are hurting with the loss of revenue.

As the battle against COVID-19 ramps up across the nation, health care professionals at small and rural hospitals are getting furloughed, reassigned and told their employment contracts are canceled.
Leanne Helmerich is one of 600 staff members furloughed at Hillcrest Medical System in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. She's out of a job after the hospital announced staff reductions Monday, hoping to consolidate resources during the coronavirus pandemic. She won't be back until the "need arises."

The latest jobs report from Altarum, a nonprofit research firm for government health insurers, found the health care sector lost 43,000 jobs in March -- the largest decline in three decades -- amidst the ongoing pandemic.

A lot of people don't realize this huge cost with the whole pandemic. People think the "elective" procedures are just breast implants and butt augmentations for the broads. Not true at all. "Elective procedures" including screening colonoscopies, mammograms, prostate biopsies, all sorts of medical tests designed to detect cancer and other serious ailments that might be bothering the patient.

Very essential to get these things done. Other things too are being delayed. This oriental broad who worked on me in the field of periodontics is currently out of business by orders of the state until the lockdown is lifted.
