Have you ever had a dead person contact you?

There is an actual church organized around ancestors who continue to stay in contact/watch over us after their death. They are called Spiritualists. They have a community in Western New York called Lilydale. I spent a weekend there once when they were open to visitors. Quite an interesting belief system. Some of the folks seemed to be pretty good psychics. At group lectures, a few folks in the audience were singled out and the lecturer talked to them about specifics of someone in their family who had died. I don't know what it would have profited them to make that up.
It was a very peaceful place, good vibes, they wouldn't hurt a flea.

I've read accounts of saints being visited by dead people- souls in Purgatory in particular- asking them to pray for them, have Masses said for them and to warn the living about the consequences of sin. In general, I tend to believe what saints say.

You might be interested in this. I've always done a lot of praying for souls in purgatory, and I've also done a lot of genealogy. I have said rosaries for my deceased ancestors. Genealogy is often slow, painstaking work/research. I was working at the computer one day when something was telling me to pursue a line of research that did not originate with a family member. Call it weird instinct or coincidence, but for the fun of it I followed quick leaps and bounds that made no sense to me and wasn't like my usual, logical, methodological digging. Much to my surprise, one strange twist tagged me into a small line of my own family genealogy where I was delighted to find the name of a, until then, unknown female ancestress. A quiet voice said in my mind, "Now you can pray for me as well."

To this day, I don't know precisely what to think of this. It was not my thought process that day on the computer. No one had control of me, but ideas and the names I followed was not my methodology. No one was controlling me, it was more suggestion with me willing to give up time to play along. But if my assessment is correct then:

1. There is purgatory (or a time of purification)
2. Souls in purgatory may be aware when the living are praying for them
3. There seems to be power in prayer. What is this power and how is it used?
4. Under what circumstances are the dead able/allowed to contact the living?

This was a very odd, very humbling experience which raises more questions than it answers. I am also quite cognizant that an imaginative mind could take into account a person's love of genealogy who had a long practice of praying for the dead could subconsciously create a story that, of course, would seem quite real and unusual to me.

You seem to misunderstand--I have studied different religions for over 50 years, And the bible( a few different ones)--By learning and applying all that Jesus taught I could clearly see the teachings of Jesus back the JW teachers in every translation on earth. As well the FACTS of Israelite God worship history proves the JW teachers are correct.
There is 0 doubt in all creation( 33,000 different trinity religions are a mass of confusion,( Mark 3:24-26) all of creation can see the confusion-- Proving they are not of God--1Corinthians 1:10(a true mark)-- Unity of thought, no division. = one single religion, just like in the OT. Jesus is with one set of teachers--his. he said the world would hate them if they followed Jesus.

I agree about seeing Jesus in all of the languages. I can see God's hand in every work under the sun.

Do you learn by just by books and by your own precepts or by the spirit that is sent to guide, instruct and who teaches each who truly believes? Has the world hated you yet? Have you been stripped through lies and deceit with someone else using your name? What has the spirit shown you?

My husband says to tell you, "It is good to hear that you search for the truth and I even commend you for doing so. Just think, when the time comes for you to be led by the holy spirit instead of a carnal mind how much greater wisdom, knowledge and understanding will increase for you.
