Has there ever been a more incompetent business organization than the USPS?

My wife got a new phone and ordered a protective case for it back in the latter part of July. It was one of those mass-produced phone cases you find on Ebay, probably made in China, and cost her about $9.98 with free shipping.

So the Ebay seller shipped it the next day from Las Vegas, NV on July 28. From there it arrived at a Los Angeles distribution center on July 29, departed there on July 30, and arrived at a USPS regional facility in Des Moines, Iowa on the same day.

Now here's where it started getting weird: From Des Moines, Iowa, it arrived at a West Fargo, ND regional facility on August 1 and then showed up at a Jersey City, NJ facility on August 6. It departed the Jersey City facility on August 7, made it to an Oak Creek, WI facility on August 8, then on to Madison, WI on the same day. The package still has another 65 miles to go before it arrives here, which hopefully will be tomorrow.

Is this any way to run a business? Especially a business that has a 2025 projected total operating revenue of $82.9 billion, a $2.4 billion increase from 2024. A business that has a total Q3 operating expense of $22.0 billion, a 2.9% increase compared to the same quarter last year.

I might have to write a letter to President Trump. You know, that "fascist" guy sitting in the White House. To hell with making the trains run on time, nobody rides trains anyway. I'd be happier if he kicked the USPS in the rear end and made them get the mail running on time.

Well, first it is not a business, thank you!

Fed Ex, UPS, Amazon do the same thing.

Amazon though, is the absolute worst.

Imagine being told to look around your neighborhood for a package?
It never arrived claiming it was delivered and was told to get a police report, when I did, I called them and they couldn't find my order, DESPITE me giving them the order number.
That was the last straw.

I was out almost $400, that was 3 years ago, haven't used them since.

I still get Amazon packages delivered to my house, but they aren't mine, so I deliver the packages for them.

why did you have to get a police report?...........

thats pretty strange....they misdeliver and then try to say it was theft?..
Maybe they were, maybe they weren't.
Likely thinking it was delivered and I kept the package then tried to get a refund.
Because someone signed for it, according to them, that someone wasn't me.
Possibly thinking, if I did try to do that, I wouldn't go to the police but I did.

I had my packages delivered to me by my neighbors, more than a couple of times, left BY my mailbox by the road, delivered to an empty house across the street that doesn't even have address numbers on it.

According to the police, from what they told me is, it isn't strange at all for Amazon.
Either they are very bad delivery people or the drivers are thieves.

well thats one thing about the PO is that if someone is ******* with the mail and the inspectors get wind of it they usually win....and employee fired and maybe imprisoned....the other deliverers dont have a police force...

The USPS is a business, but not a private company. It is a government-run enterprise that is required by law to be self-sufficient, funding its operations through the sale of postage and services, similar to a private business.

the sad part is they dont let it run like a business....

It is not a business because you cannot run a business at a net loss. It cannot be self-sufficient at current postal rates. You are quite incorrect. It is supposed to be self-sufficient, but Congress will never let it be, because other companies would run it into the ground without taxpayer funding. It is just simple facts. Fedex and UPS are not going to send mail to the four corners of the earth for less than a dollar. The postal service is in fact a form of socialism, believe or not.

True. They not only rely on federal taxpayer's money to stay afloat, they also keep raising their postal rates.

We get shafted coming and going.

Do you know how long it has been since I actually mailed something to someone else? I honestly can't recall, yet I get 4-5 pieces of mail every day. Junk mail is the only thing keeping the US mail alive. Every package I was supposed to receive through the USPS has been stolen enroute and cost me over $100 over the past 3 months. Amazon and UPS shows up on time every time.

My brother mailed me a Thanksgiving card from his home in FL. It took a week to get here. It arrived on Wednesday.

We mostly get junk mail and bills. But the wife does buy clothes online, and sometimes they're shipped USPS. I buy a couple things from Ebay every few months, and they all get shipped USPS.

My medicine comes via USPS for non-refrigerated medicines. Refrigerated insulin comes overnight via FEDEX, because USPS doesn't do that!

Last week some newbie at the VA pharmacy screwed up and sent me the wrong insulin and it was also in an unrefrigerated box. Several hundred dollars of insulin was wasted. I could not use it and it was going to spoil in less than a month.

Sorry to hear that. I neglected to mention the two inhalers I get from the VA, for COPD. Those always arrive by USPS, sometimes overnight.

USPS no longer has overnight service as far as I know. That is why my VA refrigerated meds comes via FedEx. Even UPS can't do it as far as I know. When I got meds from The University of Kentucky in Lexington KY they came FedEx also and I believe it was for the same reason.

I meant Priority Mail Express, which has guaranteed 1-day or 2-day delivery options. They're only shipping from 50-something miles away, so they usually get here in one day.
