Quoted in Le Monde today, 01.31.05, Michel Barnier, French Foreign Minister:
France: "the first step towards the democracy". The French Foreign Minister, Michel Barnier, declared Monday January 31 that the elections in Iraq are "a victory for the Iraqi people" and "the first significant step" towards democracy.
Expressing speaking on radio Europe 1, the minister declared: "It is a victory for the Iraqi people, and it is the first significant step, which was essential for the democracy and the political process which we wish and to which we work - I speak about the international community - for months." WTF!? France has done zero to help bring about the elections in Iraq. In fact, if it had been up to France, Hussein the Mass Murderer would still be doing oil deals with TotalFinaElf.
