This is why I never use bird shot when hunting people.
Sure, the odds of hitting your victim are better but it takes 17 years for them to die.

I've found turkey loads work best for my purposes.
They don't die too fast, they don't die too slow.
Long enough to savor without getting bored.

I had a friend shoot a squirrel right between my feet after me slinging it to the ground from it trying to eat my hand. He was more controlled and accurate than Cheney on a fast poorly thought out move in the heat of the moment. Of course that didn't stop me from slapping him up against the tree with my shotgun barrel pinned across his throat shouting "MotherFkr, don't you ever do that shit again!" I was lucky. I was dealing with a Mike. Harry Whittington was dealing with a Dick.
