I'm not sure I'm tracking. a tariff like a min wage simply sets a price floor. and there is the rub. trump treats tariffs as .... beats the fuck outta me. You can use a tariff to even up with a country that put a tariff on shit we try to sell. The gop has always been ok with that, even Reagan.

but trump is simply making imports more expensive for american consumers. His "theory" seems to be that wages will increase to meet more expensive products. We did that in the late 70s. It was called stagflation.

I don't see a min wage as futile. It can be harmful to an employer if the wage is set so high that prices have to rise to meet it, so sales decline. I'm no fan of what the progs were up to in N. Calif during the Biden forgotten years. It was punishing people for selling food for what people would pay.

During Obama's term, Jina decided to sell solar collectors for less than even they could produce the damn things. Predatory pricing is the econ/legal term. I'm perfectly ok with 100% tariffs or even outright import bans on that shit.
