Happy Liberation Day

A handful of people make robots which replace thousands of manufacturing workers.
Its not quite that drastic

but no question fewer workers will be need to produce a vacuum cleaner or whatever than are needed now

Even so, why do you want to ship ALL THE JOBS TO CHINA?

It seems to me that we still should produce domestically

McKinsey: automation may wipe out 1/3 of America’s workforce by 2030

And your plan is to wipe out ALL the jobs

I did see #165

Is your argument that since automated assembly lines reduce the number of workers needed why not go whole hog and move all the production to china?
Because China doesn't have the best interests of the USA at heart. Should we go to war they make so much stuff we have to have and don't make ourselves, we could be in serious trouble. The USA should not be dependent on any other country for essential products that we have to have. If for no other reason, it is a national security concern.

You are very obtuse.

Manufacturing jobs are becoming EXTINCT. They are NOT going to China.

THEY NO LONGER EXIST. They are kaput. Gone.

HELLO POLLY!!!

As for the manufacturing which has gone to China, that's because of what is known in economics as the smiling curve of production.

Take a look at the diagram. Manufacturing nets the LEAST financial value. It is at the very bottom of the curve.

You reap the most benefits from R&D, Engineering, Branding, and Marketing, and Support.

A laptop gets manufactured in China, say. They make very little profit.

But then you slap an Apple log on it, and Apple makes a ****-ton of money off it.

Some factories in China which make stuff like PCs, slap the logos of several companies on the same shit they make. They are all identical. The marketing is where the money is at.

So again, Trump is a liar AND an idiot trying to drag America back to the stone age.

I can see that but globalist America Last libs miss the point entirely

As I've said a gazillion times on this forum, the future is in the services industry.

And guess what. We have a trade SURPLUS with the rest of the world in the services industry. Mostly because of Wall Street.

And as I've also said a gazillion times before, we need to train our kids for the jobs of TOMORROW, not the jobs of our forefathers.

Trump is a liar and an idiot.

Unions can be good or bad

When the union is too powerful its just as harmful as when they are weak

See post #168
When we had strong unions, workers received competitive wages and benefits. They were protected from arbitrary management actions..

Really?

Will we not need toasters or tv’s in the future?

Or will someone grow them on toaster and tv trees for migrant workers to harvest like tomatoes?

We will continue to need and want consumer products in the future

Wow! Your obtuseness is incredible.

When a robot replaces hundreds of workers, you actually believe those jobs which have been automated out of existence went to China!

What the ever loving ****?!?

And many of them became lazy and unproductive

The unions were one of reasons Detroit is a wasteland today

Just like all those farming jobs.

We are much better off, and far more wealthy, that we went from 90 percent to 2 percent farming jobs.

And we produce a hell of a lot more food.

You just aren't getting it. Trump has your mind stuck in a rut.

Manufacturing is going the same way farming did. You better catch up.

China is where globalists like you want to send them

You are against manufacturing stuff in America

JESUS!

Robots will make our toasters! Goddam, man! How is it possible this is not penetrating your skull?!?

EXTINCT! Look up the word.

How many times have we seen a Union shut down a Factory and put thousands of people out of work -- Permanently! For no reason other then pure spite.

I've seen it many times. Many.

There's "Company Unions" and there's Adversarial Unions. The bad ones usually began in sectors where the workers were badly mistreated. Coal Mining for instance.

Idiots (mostly dimocrap scum) use the term "Red Neck with absolutely ZERO understaing of its origin.

At the Battle of Blair Mountain, in West By Gosh, where striking Miners were assailed and killed by The United States Army and paid goons, the striking Miners wore Red Bandanas to distinguish themselves from the paid goons trying to murder them.

Hence, "Red Neck"

Those Unions meant something. They mattered. A lot.

But Unions like the Teachers Union and other Pubic Sector Unions -- Suck Ass.

Your stuck mind is causing you to bleev this horseshit.

I am simply stating the facts.

Do you know stupid you sound when you say a job which has been automated out of existence went to China?

My god!

No argument there

In America we are better at producing food than almost anywhere else

And we do it with automation

So why not apply the same efficiency to making toasters in America instead of importing them from china?

Back in the bad old days, when workers were seriously exploited and were a dime a dozen (almost literally), unions had a good purpose and were necessary.

But over time, unions priced themselves out of existence.

We did not train our children for the jobs of the future.

Paying someone $20 an hour to make T-shirts made no sense when a Bangladeshi would do it for a dollar a day.

So we moved on to more financially productive labor. And that's where a lot of people did not keep up because they were pining for the old days.

What facts are you stating?

Only that you’d rather import from china than make stuff in America
