The tax code has been a mess since Reagan and his cronies started dicking with it in the early 80's.
If you want to balance the budget, make SS and Medicare solvent, if you want to fund defense and other government programs, you start with RAISING taxes on corporations and the wealthy..not lowering them.
Trickle down economics..doesn't work.

The basic building blocks of our economy start with an equitable tax system.

You know what you get when you start taxing business? Less business & a shrinking pie.
When you lower taxes on business, you get more business & a growing pie.
Why do lefties always feel govt knows how to spend our money better than we do?

Corporations. The wealthy. Honestly, when the corporate and upper income bracket rate is cut..who do you think shoulders the burden of taxes?
The middle class and small business owners. Again, for those who can't keep up....tax cuts DO NOT increase revenues.

Why is you members of Alt-Right Nation have absolutely NO IDEA how things work in this economy?

Like the government doesn't spend the money and grow the pie faster than they can get it.

Figures there would be a republican in there somewhere. :21:

Meanwhile, the top 1% already pay something like half of all taxes. What is really needed is a much smaller government not bloated to the brobdingnagian monstrosity size it is now with fifty alphabet regulatory agencies coupled with far less regulations and taxation to get government the hell out of the way so that business, economy and individuals can flourish.

Taxation only benefits one thing: MORE dead weight government.

An equitable tax system would be one where every person pays the same percentage of income. Oh yes, one where EVERYONE pays taxes. Of course if you want a really equitable tax system, you want a sales tax. No one can hide from it, the more you make, the more you spend and the more tax you pay.

Corporations. The wealthy.

That's right Jack, better tax all those wealthy SUCCESSFUL people and PUNISH them for succeeding without government until you can pound them down into the dirt with all the rest of the little people! There's no getting out from under your big fat thumb of oppression!

Only 18 more weeks to go! :auiqs.jpg:

Still not enough. And what about the corporate tax rate? That nice tax cut gift in 2017 that was supposed to lift all boats?..hmmm...seems it went to buy back a lot of stock.
Again, the effect of tax cuts..do not trickle down.

I don't care about the size of government. I care about its efficiency. It's ability to execute.

You better hope so. Or it will be the end of the Republican party..and conservatism as you know it.

Lifted my boat very nicely.

Sure Jack. There is no such thing as efficient government and the bigger and fatter they are, the more they take and the more they waste, period. How else do they get so big and fat?

Confiscating our money through taxes & spending it poorly is not the stimulus you seem to feel it is.
The govt will never be as efficient or careful at spending our money as we would.

The pie is the economy & the govt that stays in their lane is only there as a referee with a light touch.

Pretty rich coming from a proggy advocating tax increases during a recession

sales tax means upper earners pay less tax per %income than workers

See there you go undercutting your own argument with the word "careful". The pie grows by spending it and respending it as many times as possible in a year. Being "careful" slows velocity and shrinks the pie. You should drop your credit card in cracktown with the PIN written on it if you want the pie to grow. They'll spend it for you in no time.

BS. Pushing for more govt confiscation to spur the economy is an old & tired trick they already know is not a genuine growth of the economy.
Under your philosophy, the govt should outlaw savings accounts, 401K's & home equity to pour it back into the economy while destroying their own accumulation of wealth.
A population that saves money grows it's wealth.
I'll never understand the moronic argument that the govt should take more of our $. It's like leftists hate the idea of true freedom.

Equitable would be if everyone paid in something. As it now stands, half of all Americans pay NOTHING toward operating our federal government.

Let’s at least start with a minimum tax of, say, $500 per adult. If we now have 100 million adults who pay in squat, that would mean an additional $50 billion a year. Sure, it’s a drop in the bucket compared to our excessive spending, but at least we would not have have half of America in the “takers” side and the other half on the “provider” side.

Then, focus in where the real problem lies - excessive spending. We could cut the budget by 10% easily by avoiding wasteful spending and cutting down in fraud and abuse.

LOL. Growing wealth by saving money. Have you seen interest rates on savings accounts in the last two decades?
