His old man - Light Horse Harry - was no slouch as a fighter either!

Sigh, if more people were willing to defend their home against federal tyranny, maybe we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in now.

I’m pointing the finger at myself too.

He apparently thought what he did was morally justifiable. Unfortunately, thinking that way does not necessarily make it so. The majority opinion is that he was wrong, historically as well as technically. The Union was not something that could be legally ended unilaterally. Legal processes were abandoned and force inflicted. The argument that the South was invaded presupposes it was a separate area from the rest of the Union, which it was not. He placed his state over his country. He was lucky not to have been treated as most similar actors have been in history when they lost such a fight. We can hate his sin even if we do not hate him.

So you just like the Southern form of tyranny and enslavement of a race?

Lee was a good man and a great leader, but that does not matter to the Woke haters today who do not understand history
A subject where I diverge from many of my colleagues on the left who look at the 19th Century strictly through 21st Century lenses. Political opportunism/wokeness exists on both sides.

His property is a cemetary to remind us of the "Noble Cause" to end freedom for black people enslaved.

Of Gods and Generals is really good. They use actual documents, it's acted..but..it's good.

Many don't know that Lee was a patriot who was actually against the Civil War and only went with the South because he felt rather obligated due to his location that it was expected of him, but was actually an advocate for settling the war sooner rather than later, but now the Left accuse him of being a traitor when in fact he was one of the heros of the war.

Motherfucker, the "Southern form of tyranny" was taught to me by an old black woman outside a general store in Georgia somewhere.
I was not prepared for what she told me, but she sure told me all about it.
There was a whole lot of "damn yankees" and "Sherman" involved. I was real young, and she sure put things into a different light for me. That wasn't in mah history books n stuff.
The "Southern form of tyranny" was perpetrated by General William Tecumseh Sherman.
She spit a couple times after mentioning his name.
I just wanted some Bubble Gum. I got a lot more than that that day.
No regrets.

I see yer around one hundred years old. Next, yer gonna inform us how the slaves had it better during the Confederacy compared to being free.

No.
She was probably over 90 and I was about 9.
