Giuseppe Verdi, the giant of Italian opera.....well, of opera, period, born today...1813

Perhaps this tribute should be in "Politics," as Verdi helped inspire the unification movement in Italy.

"In his early period Verdi's operas were openly political, directly expressing the Italian struggle for national independence."
Verdi: the music of revolt | Socialist Review

"...Venice and much of northern Italy was in the hands of the Austrians, who were deeply fearful of the attempts to unify Italy and were well aware of Verdi’s patriotic stance.

His very name had become an anagram, an open secret used to inflame the public toward independence and unification. “Viva VERDI” was scrawled on walls, painted on banners, shouted by crowds — ostensibly in honor of the increasingly popular composer.

But “VERDI” also stood for Vittorio Emmanuele, Re d’Italia (Vittorio Emmanuel, King of Italy, meaning a free, unified Italy, not just King of Sardinia as he was at the time). "

This forum is about the music, NOT politics,
I'll be sure to allow you to decide what can be posted about Verdi's life, comrade.
Thanks for fucking up another forum. I wasn't talking about the OP. That was relevant. It's your response to to message #2 that was unwarranted. A flame about it's childishness would have been more appropriate.

Once can always detect when a dunce like you suddenly recognizes that they've put their foot in their mouth....
...the vulgarity is actually meant for themselves.

Excellent.

Explain to me the point of message #3, then. It was a total non sequitur.

How about I extol you on how well equipped you are at determining what other people can say?

Is that from government school training, comrade?

Let me guess: you were the perennial hall monitor.
