Half of US guns are owned by 3% of the public

Gun inequality: US study charts rise of hardcore super owners

Americans own an estimated 265m guns, more than one gun for every American adult, according to the most definitive portrait of US gun ownership in two decades. But the new survey estimates that 133m of these guns are concentrated in the hands of just 3% of American adults – a group of super-owners who have amassed an average of 17 guns each.

These are the gun owners who horde guns and ammunition to feel "safe"
That is because 1% of the wealth is owned by most of the liberal elites who have to have armed guards to protect them. Funny how that works.

What a ridiculous claim

Do billionaires like Bill Gates have bodyguards? - Quora
Yes, billionaires have bodyguards. For example, Warren Buffett has a security detail that protects him:
Just like what Trump said about HRC, she wants the peon US citizen to give up their guns, but she is a liberal elite so is much better than you and I , therefore must have an army of fully automatic weapons at her disposal.

You do realize that Trumps complaint about Hillary's Secret Service protection does not help his cause

Secret Service is composed of firearms in the hands of highly trained and certified agents.

Is Trump proposing the same standard for the general public?
The same highly trained and certified agents like the police out in the States, supposedly shooting "Unarmed Black People"? Hmm, your not helping your argument about the US citizens having to defend themselves.

in America, we do know that 30% are die hard liberals and will do whatever the liberal elites tell them to do. So most of them don't own guns, but will rely on the government to save them. Now the rest of the US citizens have a brain and know that if the liberals take away the 2nd amendment and disarm US, then the liberal by the force of the government will do like any other socialist country and this is to get rid of our rights and take over the country. This is why Obama , and all the rest of the retarded liberal elites talk about disarming US, yet the pushback is so intense the liberal back off. But Obama still has 3months left, and has at the UN, announced plans to get the constitution denounced and a Global Unification to replace it. At that time, all liberals will be declared ISIS sympathizers. Watch what you ask for liberals, because your not going to like it when the sleeping giant is awakened, as the Japanese found out.

that's baseless hackery. but thatnks for playing

now continue to bow down to the NRA.

:cuckoo:

While there are an estimated 55 million American gun owners, most own an average of just three firearms, and nearly half own just one or two, according to the survey results.

Then there are America’s gun super-owners – an estimated 7.7 million Americans who own between eight and 140 guns.

If you read the article- it said women buy a gun for protection

Why do you think an on line survey is accurate?

There is no way to know if any of the respondents actually own a gun.
For all you know some pimply faced teenager said he owned 500 Ar 15s

Yes.....because gun owners are know liars

No it's because it's none of your fucking business how many guns anyone owns

Of course it is

We have from 260-330 million guns in this country. It is proper to try to draw conclusions about our high gun ownership.
One conclusion might be that every American owns a gun...we know that is an incorrect conclusion because many people on numerous gun while others have none

This survey is an attempt to quantify that number

Other independent surveys show about 22% of families have a gun in the household. That supports the theory that there is gun hording going on

The survey results is mildly interesting, but nothing truly noteworthy or surprising. Rightwinger you seem to want to draw some conclusions about guns and their owners from the survey. How many people do you know who own guns, do you know any of the 3 percenters who own lots of guns? Just curious about your perspective because you talk as if people who own guns are a mysterious bunch. Some might say out of touch.

No chance one might have different firearms for different purposes?

No way a guy could have several shotguns for different types of waterfoul and upland game. No way he might have two or three rifles just for hunting varmints at different distances. Impossible a hunter might also have a few deer rifles as well, for different types of terrain. And there's just no way that same guy might enjoy the extended hunting season that a black powder rifle offers. Could that same guy have a .22 for small game? No way, he's just a hoarder! Of course, it's impossible that same guy might have target-only firearms or participate in marksmanship competitions, some of which utilize three different firearms in one tournament. Clearly, if that guy also happened to inherit several firearms from his grandfather, that he treasures as heirlooms, well, that would probably make him a racist...somehow. Could he also have one or two firearms for self defense in his home, and maybe a pistol he uses for conceal carry? Of course not, couldn't be. And lastly, there is absolutely no way that same household might have have a wife with a self defense firearm, because as we all know, gun control is about giving a 120lb woman the right to fistfight a 250lb rapist. That's only fair.

No, all of that is impossible! The only reason someone has more than one firearm is because he's a paranoid gun nut and a hoarder. Clearly.

Well, I see no reason why anyone should have more than one car. It makes no sense that someone might want a four wheel drive for bad weather and going off road, another more fuel efficient car for commuting to work, and yet other family truckster for hauling the wife and kids.

No, those multi car owners are nothing more than paranoid hoarders too.

Logic fails the collectivist meddler once again..
Now I am not a liberal, nor an elite, but I do have a collection of firearms, that most have never been shot. Since 2008 most of the weapons have increased in value almost 50% of the purchase price. For 8 years , the return on the investment is better than the stock market.

[ATTAC]90479[/ATTACH]

So you claim to be part of the 3%

Thanks for supporting the OP
If I can afford to own more guns than you, whose fault it that? Mine or yours because you cant find a living that enables you to purchase items within your budget? Hard to buy weapons when you are sitting in your parents basement, smoking dope, eating government cheese, and watching Netflix on your parents account, right?

Yeah an on line survey of people stupid enough to opt in to a junk mail survey mailing list

And you think it's accurate?

I wouldn't be surprised if the survey was in fact accurate. Especially with all the goofball gun nuts they have around these days.

Even years before everybody went gun crazy I kept a few guns around. A shotgun for bird season. A high powered rifle for big game. A 22 rifle for target shooting, and a hand gun I strapped on while bird hunting.
I guess you could say that every gun I owned back than had a purpose. And that purpose was for hunting. Not killing people.

OK

So you were one gun owner with 4 guns

Meets the profile of the OP

Years ago, yes. Today? Not so much.

Why did you get rid of your guns?

Why do you think he did?

Oh yeah everything on the internet is true

yup

You are on to something there Rightwinger. You make a great argument for the federal government to start funding the NRA the same way they fund Planned Parenthood. The NRA promotes gun safety the same way Palnned Parenthood promotes safe abortions. Since you are clearly concerned about people owning guns not knowing how to safely handle them, it does follow that it would "promote the general welfare" if the federal government started funding gun safety training. And the NRA is very well positioned to provide the training. Once again, great idea on your part.

Why did you get rid of your guns?

Age & either a lack of use, or I plum wore em out. They do have a shelf life you know.

For example, I sold my bolt action 30.06 after ten years of never shooting the darn thing, and bought one of those new ruger mini 14's that just came out.

A very useful high powered rifle compared to my old 30.06. And even more importantly, the ammo was affordable.

Sorry....this has already been shown to be a bogus study...created by an anti gunner and not peer reviewed.......Pew just came out with actual research that showed 44% of the people own guns.......

357,000,000 guns owned by only 3% of the population.?...only you would buy that load of crap......

And the fundemental tenet of the anti gunners is a lie.....more guns does not equal more crime...

200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s......357 million guns in 2016....and the gun murder rate went down 49%.

Online surveys are every bit as accurate as John Lott`s telephone surveys asking how many times a person has used his gun to ward off an evildoer. So yes, the surveys aren`t worth anything.

Moron.....John Lott didn't do that research........Dr. Kleck did it....and the bill clinton Department of Justice also did the exact same thing...bill clinton's department of Justice found Americans use guns 1.5 million times a year to stop violent criminal attack.....

Dr. Lott looked at crime statistics from every county in the United States before and after the passing of concealed carry laws....

Please.....do some basic research....

I'm reading Freakonomics right now... and contrary to what the nutters say, there is zero correlation between more guns and less crime.

yet they keep repeating the same lie.

That isn't what the majority of economists and criminologists say.....

And facts.....

again twit.....200 million guns in private hands in the United States in the 1990s.......357 million guns in private hands in 2016.....and the gun murder rate went down 49% in that time....

The actual accurate statement is that more guns in private hands does not increase the violent crime rate...which destroys the basic argument of the anti gunners....
