1) 1995 - Convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault (16 year old campaign volunteer), obstruction of justice, and solicitation of child pornography after denying it happened using the, wait for it, race card claiming the charges were only because he was black. 5 year sentence.

2) 1997 - Convicted on 16 counts of bank fraud, misusing campaign funds, and lying to the FEC while waiting to be released from sentence in #1. Additional 78 months sentence. Sentence commuted by fellow Democrat Bill Clinton.

3) 2014 - Arrested in Zimbabwe for violating their immigration laws. Found to have in his possession pornographic videos which is against law there. Deported to S. Africa.

4) 2015 - Indicted by grand jury for failure to file federal income tax returns for 4 years (09 - 12). Failed to show for arraignment.

Funniest part is in 2001, after having served several years for his crimes, including those similar to which Democrats chastise Hastert, Jesse Jackson hired him to Rainbow/PUSH to find ways to keep young blacks from going to prison. Wonder if Mel taught them that the best way not to do so is to not commit crimes like he did.

Seems that District that elected Mel chose another criminal, Jesse Jackson, Jr. to replace him. They know how to pick 'em in the 2nd District in Illinois.
