It is too early to tell anything about this case. This guy is active duty. This is all we know. Crazy? Drug-addled? PTSD? A follower of an ideological group? Ideological groups have been known to target service-members for recruitment., but we don't know yet.

Sergeant Webb is a member of the organized militia, the Green Berets, who are highly regulated. He would have been armed regardless of "crazy gun laws".

Although even if he wasn't constitutionally required to be armed, he would have still been able to purchase a firearm in the Black Market from fellows operating out of their trunks or in the back rooms of cocktail lounges. Gun laws only eliminate Legal firearms.
