Honestly, I think that the steroids aspect must be ignored, historically speaking. There is no way to know how many players were juiced. The only rational approach must be to assume that certain players enhanced their muscularity through hard work, a specialized diet, and legal dietary supplements. This is not that far-fetched when you consider one thing: Baseball players have, since the beginning of time, been told NOT to bulk up. It was said that bulky muscles will slow you down, harm your coordination, etc. But there came a time when muscular players - weight lifters, actually - began to excel, and others, like Bonds, decided to give it a shot.

Mr. Bonds was a Hall of Famer before he built himself up. Saying that his whole career is bullshit because his last few years were suspect is unfair and ignores the fact that even if he were illegally blown up, YOU STILL HAVE TO HIT THE BALL.

I don't believe that there has ever been a player like Bonds, who forced opposing teams to focus their entire defense and pitching strategy to simply keep him from hitting home runs every time up. Who else was intentionally walked with the bases loaded? Or with runners at first and second, no outs? Nobody.

He was a singular player.

This is a fact for the same reason Griffey might have been a better player, despite the stats.

Of course, I'm referencing accomplishments, you're referencing a bunch of "last-picked-on the playground" journalists who had their feelings hurt because Bonds wasn't nice them.
