Govt housebuilding targets under threat by greedy private water companies.

Are you seriously condemning business owners for getting paid? ... that's your inner socialist speaking ... what's the point of owning a business if not to make money ... what kind of nonsense is this? ...

Revenue minus expenses equals earnings ... "invest[ing] in their business" is part of the expenses ... dividends are part of earnings ... no one will put up the capital for the new aqueduct if there's no dividends ...

It's too expensive to bring water in ... folks knew that ... all those new 1.5m homeowners got ripped off ... but again, they knew it ... the financial statements from these businesses are a matter of public record ...
Yes I understand the profit motive. The point is that it is out of control. They have a monopoly and have avused it. Fuck em.

Monopolies are legal where you love, it's implicit with your form of government ... and excessive charges is the point, why it's called a monarchy ... and why monopolies are illegal in the USA ...

These 1.5 million households should form their own water company ... aqueducts are cheap ... how hard is it to get Royal Assent? ...

Labour’s key housebuilding target will not be met if water companies are blocked from significantly increasing bills, the leader of an industry group has said.

The government has promised to build 1.5m homes during this parliament as a central pillar to its plans to end the housing crisis.

They want to ramp up existing bills to create cash to build new pipes and so on.

This is outrageous. They want existiing users to fund water for new customers.
Over the past decade they have paid out billions in dividends. Noney that could have developed the infrastructure.

That doesnt seem to be part of their equation. This is a failure of regulation.
The govt needs to take immediate action on this threat to soociety. They need to pass a water regulation bill. A bill tha blocks dividends and bonusses on companies that failed to invest in its business.

Dividends should not be paid until the companies are compliant. This is a societal problem not a commercial problem.

We cannot be held to ransom by these bandits.
If Labour had the balls they would take the Water back under State control.

No need for all that convoluted Bollocks these gangsters need teaching a lesson they should be in jail.

The damage has already been done. The money has gone. I think the best they can do is a new regulatory framework overseen by a proper regulator.

The failure is the lack of regulation. That is mainly a tory problem. Your suggestion is fantasy. We already paid for decent water.
The market should deliver it.

They need a lot of things Frank. Mainly they need freedom from consercative ideology.
Because everyone deserves to live in government housing, except the people running the government; they get the mansions

The failure is a lack of water ... rural folks are fighting Londoners over their "chalk streams" ... these have gone dry from over-pumping ... welcome to water rationing ... and that's permanent until you install desalination plants ... cheapskates ...

You haven't been paying enough for water ... there's no money left over for maintenance ... you're the Jackson, Mississippi of Europe ... HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW ... that's really pathetic ... you have enough water in the system, it's just leaking out everyplace ... no money for repairs ...

You're blaming the Tory Government for undercharging you !!!! ... Sir Bubb didn't finish Grade 9 eh? ...

=====

You do not have decent water ... it's polluted beyond cleansing ... how many people poop in your water before you draw it out of the chalk streams? ... how about livestock piss? ... God forbid we bring up industrial waste ... in your water ... ewwwwwww ...

I say bottled water is dirty ... but it's better than London water !!! ... I would not drink your tap water ...

I'm sure you've heard of Los Angeles, just south is another big city by the name of San Diego ... and San Diego tap water is undrinkable, and at times declared unsafe to drink ... water pumped in from the Colorado River ... full of slit, salts, all the stuff that makes water brown ... smelly ... unpalatable ... it's still worth living there because of the climate ... sunny beach days 345 days a year ... soaking up rays on Christmas Day ...

What does London have to offer? ... besides old buildings long past the need to be torn down ...

No money over behave yourself, there is plenty of money to pay the shareholders and executives, having water in private hands is as insane as it gets.

I grew up in council housing Frank. It was luxury to what we had previously.. People would kill for a council house now.

The failure is a lack of regulation. These utilities should not be in privare hands anyway.
Everything these bandits do turns to shit.

I can only go by our Communist public housing.

The Management and operations staff make double the pay of the private sector and have massive pensions after 20 years and it is the WORST maintained housing stock in the nation.

Thames Water is a monopoly ... and this is allowed under your system of government ... why do you think you deserve water from these people ... form your own water district ... lay your own pipes ... dig your own wells ... lazy shits ...

Why didn't you invest yourself? ... be the shareholder instead of the victim ... it's a choice ... and this is starting to sound a lot like sour grapes ... you have only yourselves to blame ... oh wait, your government does tell you what to do, my mistake ...

Its not the same over here, The coincil houses were built and owned by local councils.

It was kicked off by Lloyd George. he recognised that poor housing was a national concern. Not least because so many recruits were unfit for war.

He started Homes for Heroes to rectify this. It took off after the second world war in Mr Atlees govt.

Houses were built for working people and rented out at a fair rate.

People had a dry home with a garden and a bathroom. The private rental market collaapsed as it should,

It was emancipating and set new standards for working class people.

Remember Atlees govt also set up the NHS at the same time. It was a magical time for Brritain.

It wasnt just the quality of the housing. It was having a decent landlord. That is the other part of the equation.

A force for good.
