Government Shutdown Is Now Costing the U.S. Economy $15 Billion a Day

They sure do love their big government. Bunch of double-talking jive turkey frauds if you ask me. Heh heh.

The least government the better is my view on it.

Of course, the Framers are on my side of that argument.

Darned shame the bulk of the modern electorate have such a love affair with the monstrocity.

I would just like to know where all this lost output is coming from and how can we address it. Are we not to question anyone now? If you don't know the answer that's ok, you don't have to be defensive. I understand.

I do know that we are 38 trillion in debt, looking at 1 trillion just in interest payments alone, and untold trillions to come from mandated spending and more unfunded mandates daily from Congress. Somebody had better talk to somebody.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has put a price on the government shutdown in Washington, D.C., and it’s a big one.

Speaking at a conference, Bessent said that the U.S. government shutdown is “starting to cost the economy about $15 billion a day in lost output.” He added that the shutdown is now a primary factor hampering economic growth in America.

The Treasury Secretary said that the ongoing federal government shutdown is becoming a significant obstacle for the entire economy, but blamed the rival Democratic Party for the current impasse in Congress. Still, Bessent said that “America is open for business” despite the current political challenges.

Perhaps this is the dem's end-game....Damage the nation's GDP so that when they come out of the shutdown they then try to make hay out of a decline in GDP that they themselves instigated.

I mean isn't that what dems habitually do, cause problems then blame someone else for them.

I think I might be on to something. ;)
Meh I'm ok

When the opportunities arise Make sure to blame democrats everywhere and anywhere

So three weeks until we get close to the money we gave Argentina.

Are those furloughed people who are not working getting back pay. Gee, you're not real sharp eh? Maybe you're the reason people think Texans are stupid.
You equate the ability of the government to collect taxes and redistribute them as economic growth? Do you realize that the government doesn't create anything, it only monitors and influences output, don't you? Little history of deficit spending and how a war-based economy affects your life. It may help, may not. How Long Has the U.S. Run Fiscal Deficits?

If they keep it shut down and SNAP/EBT cards don't get recharged the vile dems may as well dissolve their party.

I heard that some blue states plan on using their rainy day fund to make up the shortfall if it happens.

Hey, I hope the dems fight it out on that line if it takes them all of Fall and Winter. Bleed the blue states dry.
Hurting the citizens is the only leverage they have.
