GOP Is Still Moving To The Right

You don't have to be a partisan to think Bush is a criminal loon. A huge majority of the moderates and independents, and even some Republicans think that.

If Pelosi wasn't a crass partisan, she wouldn't have used her final speech on the day the first TARP bill was defeated to needlessly go through a long laundry list of why Bush had been so bad over the past eight years.

That was brutal.

There are times for statesmanship and times for partisanship. That was a time for statesmanship.

The House Speaker's job on that day was to appear to be a Statesman without partisanship?

Why?

And what exactly was partisan in your opinion?

If Pelosi was a crass partisan, Bush would have been impeached and removed by now.

Cant be impeached when you don't commit a crime.

I cant figure out why this is so difficult to understand.

BTW if going to the left is going to magically turn the GOP into a viable party, why is it that nominating the most leftist Republican didnt win us the election?

It's because the nation doesnt want a moderate. They want actual choices.

they want actual choices? then they chose other than conservative.

During her floor speech, when Republican support was wavering because they were getting pressure from their conservative constituents in their districts, Pelosi made a highly partisan speech about how Republican policies were responsible for this mess. The wavering Republicans saw this as a big "eff you" to them and voted against the bill. The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 700 points during the final two hours of the trading day after the vote failed as the market - probably correctly - saw the government inaction as brinkmanship pushing the nation towards a repeat of the Great Depression.

Of all the times to wallow in political bullshit, this was not it. This was a time for the House leadership to reach across the aisle for the good of the country. Instead, she chose that moment to score cheap political points. It was a disgrace.

this is the ultimate ideological partisanship bs...when did telling the truth become partisan?

McCain lost because he's like a hundred and nine years old, he said the economy was doing great, and he picked nutjob sarah palin.

Your true conservative candidates would have gotten blown out worse than McCain. Can you imagine how badly grandpa Fred Thompson would have got his ass kicked?

Me? A partisan Republican? Are you stoned?

And Pelosi's rant is only the "truth" if you are a partisan Democrat.

I thought I'd try being an attention whore first. :eusa_whistle:

I think he's right. Every single member of the GOP base that posts on message boards I've seen, say their party has to become more rightwing, more conservative. That's ******* awesome.

They've become the party of cranky old white men yelling at the kids to get off their lawn. Let's face it, they never really had anything more than God, guns, gays and welfare queens. Maybe if we ever get back to a period of peace and prosperity people can indulge in that again.

Doesn't matter what they become. You'll STILL be a blind, partisan hack.

So what youre saying is that you hate old people, optimism, and women with power?

McCain was the "center" candidate running in this race. And that's not what they people wanted.

It's always amusing when the left tries to define the right.

They don't understand it, and onsistantly get it wrong, but they certainly produce a huge volume of useless data about it.

It's also pretty funny when the right tries to define the left. Not only do they not understand it, they don't even pretend to have any data, but instead say things like "Obama is a communist."
