GOP Congressman That Voted Against Paid Sick Leave, Takes Paid Sick Leave From Congress

Come on lefties, this is a stretch even for y'all junior socialists. The virus is a freaking national disaster and members of Congress don't have to be present in Washington D.C. no matter what party they belong to especially if they are freaking quarantined. It has nothing to do with forcing Taco Bell to offer paid sick leave to burger flippers.

REP. MATT GAETZ, R-Fla., decided to self-quarantine this week after coming in contact with an individual who tested positive for a novel coronavirus, which causes the disease Covid-19, at the Conservative Political Action Conference late last month.

But Gaetz’s decision to take time away from his job at Congress without the fear of losing pay or being fired is a right few Americans share. In fact, Gaetz voted to prohibit Florida residents from sharing that right.

Republicans are a clear and present danger to the people.
Did it ever occur to you, sir, that Republicans come from all walks and very few of them benefit in any way from being representatives or senators because they're too honest to do what Biden did. They're there doing their jobs and offering their troubleshooting skills without stuffing their pockets. So yes, Rep. Gaetz may need sick pay, but no, he's not pocketing a billion dollars of taxpayer money through third world countries like Biden who is your party's first choice for running against a very honest President Donald Trump, who likely will beat the socks off any Demmie loser you characters pick.

Tough bananas, bub. And there's not a damn thing you can do about honest men doing an honest job of saving the American people from criminals of the Deep State who first seek wealth for themselves, then put on a show of claiming other people's victories as their own.

God bless honest men like Gaetz, and keep him healthy. amen and amen.

Its not about buger flippers, its about keeping a health crisis from becoming an economic crisis.

You can't be a Republican these days unless you are a raging hypocrite. Its de rigueur.
It's one of the Commandments of the trump cult. Along with jettisoning any empathy.

^^^ this libtard doesn't know the difference between salaried and hourly.

The point lefties seem to make is that the government should force corporations who employ temporary help to pay unskilled burger flippers for not coming to work. Meanwhile the same lefties want to withhold salaries for members of Congress who are incapacitated (like Rep. Scalise who was shot by a Sanders supporter) or are under voluntary quarantine. Lefties need to save their phony hypocrisy examples for real issues like politicians preventing local jurisdictions from placing a Christmas tree on public property while they erect the biggest freaking tree in the Country every year. How about congress saying a prayer before sessions while preventing school kids from doing the same thing.

Republicans are a clear and present danger to the people.

Fake News, as usual. He never voted “against paid sick leave”, he voted against allowing cities and counties being able to force companies to have paid sick leave (like what happened in San Fran).

Private companies and local/state governments are free to enact whatever paid sick leave policy they want.

Carry on, dipshit.

Do you know what FMLA is? It is called the Family Medical Leave Act, and government agencies and companies with 50 or more employees that work at least 20 weeks per year are FORCED to comply. The only difference between the it and the one proposed, is that companies would have to pay it and not just allow the people to keep their job while gone. It should be no big deal to do so given the federal government is basically offering to pay the companies back for doing so during a crisis like this one.

Business Criteria

Public schools and local, state, and federal government agencies must follow FMLA laws. In the private sector, businesses that employ 50 or more employees for at least 20 workweeks within the current calendar year or the preceding year are required to adhere to FMLA laws.

Employee Eligibility
Just as all businesses are not required to follow FMLA laws, not all employees are eligible to take FMLA leave. To be eligible to take the leave, employees must work for the same employer for 12 months or longer. During the 12-month period, employees must work at least 1,250 hours for the same employer.

Yes, I do know what it is, dunce. I’ve been a federal employee for a long time. FMLA still uses up normal sick leave, you’re just allowed to use it to take care of a family member.

What’s that have to do with the OP?

Just because you are a federal employee doesn't mean you aren't ignorant. Many of your posts prove that. It means everything to do with the OP. Your argument was about how it is wrong for the government to try and tell businesses what to do with sick leave... well they already do with FMLA. It isn't JUST about taking care of a family member. It is also for people with a chronic illness, for taking time off for adoption, and other cases. I thought you said you knew what it was... obviously you don't.

No dumbfuck, I never stated the government can’t tell businesses what to do. I stated that the congressman in question was against a particular piece of legislation that would prevent local governments like cities from trying to force companies into their idea of mandatory sick leave.

There already are federal laws that mandate such things, like the FMLA. So thanks for proving my point.

Yes, yes you did:

FMLA does not mandate that companies who don't offer "PAID" leave that they have to. You don't want the government to be able to tell companies what to do. You aren't fooling anyone. Just like when you lied a minute ago saying you know what FMLA is. You may know it exists, but your post showed you don't know WHAT it is.

Jesus you are an idiot. The law doesn’t prevent companies from giving their employees paid leave. So companies ARE FREE to enact their own sick leave/paid leave policies.
